I have Windows XP Professional operating system installed on an Athlon XP 2000 system. A couple days ago on bootup, it is aking for the system disk. Here is the actual message:"ONGELDIGE SYSTEEM DISKETTE ZERVANGE JGE EN DRUCK OPEEN TOETS". I can put the Windows XP disk in the drive and it will continue the boot process. Has any one had this problem?

Hi,

Are you using a non-english version of Win XP, a scandanavian language perhaps? If so can you offer any insight into how that translates?!

Cheers,

Andy

No this is an English version. Was using for about a month. Then it started. This an OEM version of XP Professional, activated, registered, etc.

Hi,

Have you got a virus checker? If so I would do a thorough scan to be sure.
Failing that have you installed/run any partition management software or bootloaders recently?
I'm clutching at straws here until someone can do a translation!

Good luck,

Andy

Did Norton Virusscan. Found everything to be ok. I used partition magic to partition the 80gb WD drive before I installed Xp. That was almost a month ago.
I did go back and re-partition the drive using XP and changed the file system to NTFS from FAT32.

Hi,

Could you be more specific about the timing/structure of your formatting etc. Sorry I don't quite understand in what order you did what. Could you please post the partitions and filesystems at each stage.

Thanks,

Andy

Ok. When I first installed XP, it was under the FAT32 file system using Partition Magic to partition the HD. Since this computer was for a friend, and I had forgotten that he wanted the NTFS system, I fdisked and reformatted the HD again, this time using XP to partition and format. Hope this clears up what I am trying to say. This did not start right away, but some weeks later. Once the Windows XP disk is put in, it boots.

Hi,

If your friend doesn't think he/she's installed anything lately that may have bought this on, then I'm stumped! Try posting a topic "Can anyone tell me what language this is?" in OT and see if anyone can translate your error message.

If you get a positive response, post back here and I'll have another go.

Good luck,

Andy
