XP Auto-Reboot

I just built my new system yesterday and constantly had reboots, sometimes every 10 minutes or so. Sometimes I could see a BSOD for a few milliseconds but never long enough to see the error. So I went ahead and turned the auto reboot feature of XP off in order to see the error message. Now for the first time I can surf/work for hours and hours without sudden reboots, also there are no error messages at all. Is there some kind of known problem with the auto reboot or is this just a coincidence? TIA

WinXP keeps a log file when it crashes, if your seeing a BSOD, I'd call that a crash. You'll find it stored under C:/WinXP/Logfiles/Watchdog.
XP should keep a record here of why it crashed, just double click file to see reason/error, should give you some info for troubleshooting.

I think the default folder is C:\Windows. Looking at Event Viewer in Administrative Tools/Control Panel may be easier.

Thanks. The BSOD error message was driver_irql_not_less_or_equal and it also mentioned mouclass.sys

What does this mean?

edit: I got the BSOD again for a few times now

That sort of sounds like a driver problem. Maybe make sure you have all the latest and proper drivers for your hardware.

So mouclass.sys is probably the mouse driver I guess? I installed the new logitech driver for my mouse now, previously I never installed a driver for it and just used used the mouse with the Xp driver that was in there. Maybe this will help.
