I have lost count of how many threads I have read and suggestions tried before posting here. I have AT&T u-verse @6Mbps, the cable enters the house and connects with a Motorola NVG510 modem/wireless router. I have turned the wireless off, then connected a Belkin DB750 wireless router. I use the belkin because it has two usb ports integrated, I have my printer and a 1tb external hdd connected to those ports. This way all three laptops can print wirelessly, and use the hdd as a backup device. Also hardwired to the motorola is a PS4 and XBox1, and also I work from home and must be hardwired to the modem while working, the rest of the time I connect wirelessly.
Now on my network is two Dell Inspiron laptops running 8.1 home, an Acer 5732Z laptop with 7, and occasionally another Acer 5734Z with Windows 7 both home that only connects occasionally, a Dell desktop with XP home, and 4 cell phones. I have managed to get every computer working with every other computer, except the XP. Now all the other machines can see the XP, and it can see everything else, all shared folders are seen both ways, but clicking on a folder results in "Windows cannot access \\TOWER
You do not have permission to access \\TOWER. Contact your network administrator to request access."
Does anyone have any idea what I might try?
