XP and SCSI

I've got a nice old Diamond Fireport 40 SCSI card. As it has BIOS of it own, technically it doesn't need any drivers for Windows. Now, do you think Win XP will work with it? As the card is not supported by manufacturer anymore, the chances are no goog, but maybe somebedy has some experience there?

xp can be intolerant of older hardware.
suggest you just try installing it to see if one of the generic xp scsi drivers will work for the card.
failing that look around for win2k drivers which may work with xp.

BIOS access is mind numbingly slow, you definately want direct access via a real driver.

Try to find out what chipset the card has, you might be able to find a different model card that is compatible and has a driver.

That card has been around for some time and will prolly be natively supported. It was once a highly sought controller and I know I have used it in Win2k without problems. As others have said, just give it a try, cant hurt anything.

I have the dual port ver of that card. It's supported native in WinXP, so I would think the single port ver is too. It's based on the Symbios 810? chipset.

I have never had success with the Diamond Fireport 40 and "native" XP drivers, but I have gotten them to work just fine using the W2K drivers.

wlee, so you have the Diamond Fireport 40 Dual SCSI card working on Windows XP? That's good news because I have the same card working with Windows 2000, but I didn't know if XP supported it or not.
