I am interested in buying my first notebook and it has Windows XP on it. The notebook is a HP ze4210. Does anyone know if Office 2000 will work with XP. I talked to the people at HP and they said it would but he is the seller and I am the buyer so of course it would. : ) If it will not work would it be possible to format and install Windows ME?

Also is it simple to hook up the laptop to a regular monitor?

Yeah, Office 2000 would run fine in XP. XP actually does a good job of running older Windows based programs. I even use M$ Money v3.0 that came out before Win95 (1993-1994). Any recent program of the last few years should run in XP - XP is nothing more than W2K with eye candy and a bunch of other features.

Hooking up a monitor to the laptop should be very easy. My Toshiba laptop recognizes when a monitor is plugged in and outputs the video correctly. I am sure the HP is the same way, but it may take some quick software adjustments nonetheless.
