Ok i know the difference between the two are that the MP are certified for dual use, but are there any performance differences in single CPU instances? I am asking because I heard that the MP are factory unlocked so I might pick one up. Thanx ahead of time.
no diffrence.........like you said MP's are certifed to run in dual setup.......MP's are not unlocked by the factory.....the diffrence is there is no "pit" laser cut in between the dots....so unlocking is way easier....
i am only repeating what i have heard from many sources .....
The MP's don't have the laser cut so unlocking is fairly easy as panhead said.
The XP's manufactured in the past month or so have an L5 trace cut that prevents SMP operation. You supposedly can reconnect them like you do L1 for the multiplier. Older manufactured XP's don't have this cut and most work fine in SMP systems.
