Is there a way you can email Microsoft on why you need a new product key? I picked up a nasty sore throat yesterday and don't realy feel like struggling through a phone conversation.

Lime green sold me a copy of XP pro with no COA(Trollhunters are after him now). I am hoping Microsoft might take pitty on me. I doubt it, but it is worth a try.

Don't waste your time. When you buy XP, you basically BUY the COA, not a CD. What you got is like having manual to a set of legos. You can get by without it, but it really helps to have it.

That's why you don't buy software and things like Windows from someone without a million bajillion heat.

Just call them, I've done it several times. Very simple.

What exactly happens when you call them? I need to reinstall XP and I have a valid key which I purchased. What do I have to tell them?

You don't tell them anything. You give them your number on your screen, and they read you one back. Type it in and your done.

That's not a new activation number, as it doesn't work the next time. You've got to call them every time you re-install. Make me wish I'd pirated the damn thing. Fvcking MS.

Yea, I never said it would work the next time. I have to call everytime I reinstall now, and yes the number is different everytime.

Um, I have to call them sometimes when I have installed XP but other times it works online. It seems like if you do not reinstall it for at least 6 months, it will activate just fine over the net.

This is correct. I believe if is the same computer (based on many different hardware configurations and the like, you can reactivate after 90 days.
