Perhaps someone could help me....

I just bought a Thermalright XP-90 with a Vantec stealth 92 mm fan. Anyways, I cannot figure out any possible way to get this heatsink onto the cpu. My only real problem is I have no idea how I need to get the little black to stay on my motherboard. I think I'm missing a part or something because I see no real way to get it to stay on. I got some pictures on this website here so maybe it will give you an idea of what I need to do haha. Thanksssss

There should be a backplate that came with the xp-90. You'll need that to mount the retention bracket onto the motherboard.

it's easy. unscrew the stock rentetion system that mounts on whatever mobo you have, and screw on the one that comes with the thermalright.

then install is a breeze after that.... if it's not easy after that, you have problems. 😉

Oh you have an Intel.. hmm
well I think the stock mounting bracket works with the XP-90 if I am not mistaken.
I have not mounted an XP-90 on a P4, only my A64, but that could indeed be the case, in which case I don't know what to suggest to you other than take a look at the mount again and see if you can get it on there, I thought it was suppose to go on the stock Intel bracket.

Did your xp-90 come with a manual? It should tell you whether you need to use the thermalright retention bracket or not.

It came with a manual but....i threw it away without thinking and by the time i got my vantec stealth in, the garbage man had taken it away...

Yeah! i know. thanks for informing me.

If you have a P4 it will fit it.

I installed it on my P4 last week. No problems. It just hooks in.

You only need that bracket if you are using skt 775 Intel. 478 skt Intels don't need anything else.

When I conencted my Xp-90 to a 939 3000+ their were no threaded holes in the backplate, hence no way to connect what came in the package to what I had. The provided screws had nothing to screw into

I had an older AMD backplate that worked fine, but to be sure something was missing from the XP-90 kit, at least for the 939 setup. Mine was the kit that included the fan

is the vantec stealth a good fan to use for the xp-90? i've been trying to find a decent fan on newegg to match to that HS, and an 80mm fan...it's really annoying fishing through the 560 fans newegg has up for sale...

i got xp-90 also. i put the fan on top of the heatsink w/clip. i was wondering do i put the screw on it heatsink or not. or is the screw for something else.

my motherboard is asus p4c800-e deluxe.
