This is the one thermalright suggest and that I use. Keeps my oc'd opteron 165 nice and cool. It is a very quiet fan.

This one puts out more air, but it is noisier. I'd only use that one if you have it connected to a good fan controller.

Thanks OP. Picking up the XP-90, panaflo+3 pin wire, and 2 TT 120mm Thunderblade LED fans for my super lanboy case. Total is $37.71 plus shipping. Great Deal!

it turned out to be cheaper for me at jab-tech. Due to cheaper shipping and with a coupon code that may have expired, however. you'll have to check.

For this price, I hardly see any reason to pick up any other aftermarket HS or stick with stock...

Actually now, the Opteron 170 (and up) and Athlon X2 4200+ (and up) come with excellent stock heatsinks. It is a copper base heatsink with 4 copper heatpipes.

This is the best picture I can find of it.

I have 2 Opt 275's and the heatsinks are okay, but the fans are a little loud and small. Still a little too warm for my tastes. I'm getting a pair of these to replace them.

I know from experience that the XP-90 is in the same ball park as the SI-120 (~2C difference) and the Ninja is about 2-4C better than the SI-120. However, price/performance ratio definately goes to the XP-90.

Yea, that 70mm fan on stock AMD heatsinks is very slim and very loud (when you're overclocking). A nice Nexus 92mm fan on a XP-90 is a much better choice.

i duno, sometimes it's a b*tch to ship from svc...they always charge a lot

With SVC, the more things you buy, the more you save on shipping.
I had a bunch of little things in my cart, then when I added a mouse, the shipping went up $0.30. By its self the shipping for the mouse is $4.35 priority mail, and $8.25 UPS.

So svc is great if you buy several items, but shipping can be expensive for single items.

Of course, Newegg always seems to add all their shipping costs together, no matter how much stuff you buy. They never seem to give a break on shipping big orders, even when it's something small than is just thrown in a box with the other items. That gets pretty annoying.

Has anybody got XP-90 on an Asrock 939 Dua SATA?

The board uses push pins and they must be removed before XP can be installed. See the one before last paragraph here. http://www.thermalright.com/a_page/main_support_faq_motherboard_xp90.htm

I am wondering if this is a change that can be restored in case I change my mind later? Has anybody done this?

YES, i have the xp-90 on my asrock dual 939 right now. you will have to buy the K8 backplate for ~$3-$4. And you will have to change the RM(included with xp-90). but the stock one can be put back if you don't flub it up like i did.
Use a small screw driver and lift(by twisting the flathead screwdriver) the four white pins, THEN flip the board over and squeeze the platic catches through. I didn't pull the white pins frist and just mangled the plastic catches completely. Everything came off fine but I won't be able to put the stock RM back on.

Will you not be able to use nuts and bolts (and plastic washers) to put the stock HS back on if you wanted to?

yes i suppose those could still be subtituted, but

the point is.. if i had done it properly, instead of being in an excited rush, I would have no problem putting it back on in perfect stock condition.

after looking at it, i will still be able to put it back on fine. just the pointy ends are kind of mangled a bit. the white pins and the bulge on the black pins is ok. But like i said, if you do it properly (take the 4 white pins out first) you should have no problem returning it to stock condition if you change your mind later.

I think the Opteron 275 comes with a different heatsink. The 170 and x2 4200 come with a 80mm fan on the heatsink. I think they started shipping the newer heatsinks in December with their retail CPUs. People report on various forums that if you take picture of your heatsink and call the AMD warranty service with your serial number and fax a copy of your reciept, they will mail you the new one. I have never found any reviews... ever... on the stock heatsink. 🙁 It just look like it should cool.
