XP 64 Bit, drivers, etc....

I've been planning on upgrading my PC for awhile now to an A64 chip. I was just looking over my MS Action Pack stuff and it seems they sent me the 64 bit version of XP Pro. I haven't followed the progress on that version all that much, I know they have different driver versions but have all the major manufacturers pretty much caught up by now? Is there a list of apps that are not compatable with this version?

I found this link but it's older, thought I'd check if much has changed.

Any other issues I should be aware of?

thanks,
Daniel

TV tuner card drivers are almost non existent. Many other devices are in beta. You should be safe if you only have an nvidia or ATI add in cards and a nforce 4 motherboard. 16bit programs will not run (or ones with 16bit code, like mIRC). Many applications (such as Daemon tools, alcohol 120%, etc.) wont work. Many antivirus products do not work (see my sig).

Welcome to the hell called the 64bit world🙂

I've been running x64 for some time now, and have only been inconvenienced by Epson's lack of printer drivers (they're available now though), and the lack of a drive emulation program. Otherwise everything else seems to be working well. I've been using Avast! 64-bit AV and have been pretty happy with it as well. Overall, I can't really complain as it's been pretty good to me.

I have been running X64 since the day it was released. I have had no really serious problems.

ATI and Nvidia both have 64 bit drivers so that solves a whole bunch of possible problems right there.

Most antivirus programs are not 64 bit compatible. But you can download Avast Antivirus, which is both compatible with Windows x64 and is free.

The only problem that I have is that there is still no real solution to running cd images of games or other programs. Nero, Alcohol 120% and Virtual CD do not work with windows x64.
