Hey guys I'm having a really big problem.(probably newby prob, but I don't know anything about multipliers). I have An ecs L7VTA and I have an AMD XP2700+ and it is being recognized as a 1500+. I just updated to the latest bios, version 1.6(l7vta_16.exe) and i flashed it correctly so no probs there. In the bios the only option i have to control the cpu is frequency/voltage control. The options under this are as followed:

Auto Detect DIMM/PCI Clk [Enabled]
Spread Spectrum [Enabled]
CPU Clock [100] I believe this can be moved the max of 132
CPU Voltage Adjust [Normal] Options under this are: +1.1% , -0.6% , +2.3% , and Normal
DIMM Voltage Adjust [Normal] Options under this are: -2.8% , +6.4% , Normal , +9.8%

THis is the latest bios and I would deeply appreciate if one of u guys could help me get my 1500 to run as a 2700 like it was supposed to.

THx

You gotta set your fsb jumper to 133 mode. Unless you have a 166mhz fsb one, you need to overclock to that speed on this mobo.

You need a 166MHz FSB or CPU Clock as it is labeled. I think your motherboard should support that.

I *think you need to install cheapoBIOS ... use google and look. Research it first tho, cuz that might only be for k7s5a

no the cheepoman bios was K7S5A... i came from that into the world of Nforce2 on a Chaintech 7NJS [notoriously the most $$$ NF2 board...]

does the ECS board he have support a 166fsb processor?

if so then its a jumper or BIOS setting. otherwise he's stuck.

look for a 100/133 jumper on the mobo
if it doesnt support 333mhz fsb

if it does, then maybe when u put the jumper to 133 it will give you the option of 166 as well
otherwise you wil have to "overclock" (not the cpu, but the board will be overclocked) to get the right speed...which it may or may not be able to hnalde..i dunno

Umm, why would it overheat? The heatsink was designed for that speed.

it will not over heat, run it at 2700 speed, and if that heatsink came with it, it is designed for that speed, have fun with your 2700.

lol i read you post above that said "o i read the manula...blah blah blah...what do i do now?" and was about to say "do what the manual says" until i read the post below it

it won't overheat
it may be realy hot, but it won't die (or shouldnt die)
the hetasink it came wtih (if you bought a retail package and are talkin about that one) should be good enough to cool it

Double-check your heatsink to make sure it is installed correctly (it is possible to install them backwards). Also, make sure your fans are all working. Finally, double-check your VCore setting (cpu voltage) and make sure it isn't set higher than the processor default.

It is possible that your case doesn't have enough airflow to keep the new processor cool enough. Install a motherboard monitoring program (MBM5.3), check your CPU temp before you play any games and after about 10 minutes of gaming. Keep an eye on the voltages as well (power supply may be the culprit).
