I am considering upgrading my Athlon XP 1600+ to a 2000+. Does anyone have personal experience with this processor? Since the price has fallen to approx $240.00, it is now a fairly reasonably priced chip.

No, there isn't much difference.

If you want 2000+ speeds, buy a better heatsink and run your XP 1600+ at 2000+ speeds. That's what most of us do.

At $240, the 2000+ is a ripoff when you can get a P4 1.6A for $140 and run it at 2.4GHz, or a XP 1700+ for $140 (w/ PAL8045) and run it at 2000+.

No, never get the top of the line processor.

Why not wait until t-bred is out, then get the xp-2000+ ;)

hmm....you can't get 2000+ speeds out of a 1600 can you? though it isn't like it makes a difference. real life situation you are taking like fractions of seconds in most things. for normal use you can't tell a big difference......and it sure isnt worth the money. i somewhat agree with the last post.....wait for the t-bred.........but then GET the low end t-bred....hehe......wiht the smaller core you shoudl be able to get a good o/c out of it aside from the fact taht it will already be faster :)
