When i first got my chip i orded the Vantec 6027D hsf because i heard it was the best cooling for it's noise. It worked ok at first then it started to get up to about 111 F under idle conditions. Then I decided to get the AX-7 cooler with the Mechtronics 80mm from plycon B&M directly to save on shipping. Now it still runs at around 111 to 115. I applied AS3 under both hsf and mounted them multiple times. It's not crashing but seems kinda high with my new cooler. Is it my room? Any ideas or recommendations? Thanks.

what board are you using? you might want to consider a BIOS upgrade/downgrade. I had this problem with an ABIT KT7A. I forgot the bios version that gave me this problem, but it gave my temp a good extra 10deg.

Jiggavo,

When a manufacturer adds compensation to a BIOS, it is to compensate teh reading to better reflect true DIE tmepreature. This is because socket-thermistors do not measure temp well at all.

Johnyeh,

What motherboard are you using? what is your system temp?

I'm using the Soyo Dragon PLus with the latest BIOS upgrade but i'm using motherboard monitor to look at my temps.
My case temp is around 98.
I have 2 80 mm intakes and 2 80mm exhaust fans in my antec 1030 case.

well, your case temps is a bit high... but I dont' know if that's a result of case cooling or room temp.

yeah, case temp is your problem. What is your room temp? Its easy to see that your processor would be 111 if your case temp is 98.

Mikewarrior2,
Yeah that's what I thougth too, but i had instabilities too. I would get constant reboots during high cpu utilization even freezes. My temp readings were around 60deg. I don't know if it was coincidental with the BIOS change, but I felt that it had to do with the temperature.

Jiggavo,

What were/are your ambient system temps with the KR7A? From waht i've seen, 60C temps shouldn't be enough to cause any heat related instabilities with that line of motherboards....
