i have a legit 180 day verson of XP when it hits retail can this be upgraded to the 2600 verson with no problemor will i have to reformat

You can upgrade it. If you purchase the full version of XP, you will have no problems. If you purchase the 'upgrade' version of XP, you can unlock your trial version with it but you will need to insert your 98/Me/W2K CD as proof that you have a qualifying product to upgrade from.

Historically, you can upgrade timebomb versions to retail.

You can NOT upgrade MSDN or NFR (not for resale) versions to retail.
