Yep. I use the two yellow slots anyway (or the two orange i forget which is the one right next to the socket) and have a XP-120. You can fit the cooler and quite easily slide the ram into place afterwards.

If by drastically you mean 2-3% then yes.

just make sure you install the xp120 so the heatpipes are facing the video card. if you have really big heat spreaders, or just tall dimms it may be close.

I didn't have a problem at all with my OCZ Platinum...plenty of room there, Probably the only memory with big enough heat spreaders would be the crazy Corsair XMS with the stupid LED temp display....lol

also the XP120 will fit, but it will block the first PCI-E slot, if you go the ThermalRight website they will list the compatible MOBO's for the XP-120, it states this information right there.

Think about the XP-90, I have it on my DFI Ultra-D with a Vantec Tornado (noisy but at over 120 CFM it works well). I have great temps on my machine right now, if noise is an issure go with a Panaflo fan, nice and quiet and move air very well.

My Vantec is not really that noticeable, the case fans drown out the noise from it almost entirely. I am sure someone will ask what kind of case fan's do I have, Panaflo Ultra High Speed 120mm's 2 of them and one regular Panaflo 120mm in the front.

My temps right now are great, under load i have 36c on my video card (x800xl) and only 35 on my CPU, shich I do have at a moderate overclock of 2.6 right now.

41c at the moment with 25c room temp. Bear in mind i dont have any intake fans in my case and only one exhaust. My x850XT PE is at 51c and fitted with an Artic Cooler. Like theman said, fit the HS so the heat pipes face down, it doesnt block anything as thats how i have mine set up. Oh and the fan does 60CFM at 1700rpm (bout 29db - Akasa blue LED one).
