Xonar DX and Directional sound- need halp!

Hey all,

I recently matched Asus's Xonar DX with Sennheiser's PC350. Overall, great. The only problem I'm having is the directional sound on explosions is basically non existent. I was wondering if any owners of the Xonar DX or any1 with similar experiences have any idea on what to try. I've tried every setting on the Xonar's control panel I could think of. Thoughts?

does the game have a headphone setting.

Yes it does, but it doesn't seem to change anything

does the game use its own sound engine or the cards?

I'm not entirely sure, its Battlefield bad company 2
