now im waiting to see what's up w/ maxim radio on sirius. I love the C&R show 3pm! i listen to sat rad way to much

Same thing happened to me.

I didn't get an email.

I was like WTF?!?! All my channels are moved around?!?!

I do admit, when I listen to Sirius in a rental car, I prefer Lithium over any of the alternative stations XM has. Now XM has Lithium. Yay!

But I was seriously caught off guard by this.

Did they not do that completely annoying thing where every two songs they had a pre-recorded "Stations are going to be rearranged on such and such a date" like they did on AOL radio when the contract ran out?

Just out of curiosity, are they broadcasting out of both studios? (Are the XM Channels still coming from XM headquarters?) or does it all come out of Sirius HQ in NYC?

Not sure, but I would think XM's headquarters is technologically superior to Sirius'. I believe that building was built from scratch and all audio transmission between studios there is done via fiber optics.

They do fiber as well "Uplink - While all the SIRIUS stream programming and digital file storage takes place in the headquarters, the signals are actually uplinked to the satellites from a facility across the Hudson River, in New Jersey. The two offices are connected via fiber optic cables and microwave transmission. "

also

Production Studios
Down the hall past the Main Performance Studio is the first of thirty-three Production Studios, where stream designers host programs, interview artists, and feature live performances. The studios are connected to the digital music library via fiber optic cable, so a designer can program his or her stream from any of the studios. The layout of the studios is governed by the philosophy of making things as convenient and cost-effective as possible. As Mark Kalman explained, "When your facility is built around an automation environment, you can do things that you used to have to do in studios, at your desktop."

we used to listen to XM Comedy 150 alot in our lab.
For the last month or so, it's been about 15 min of programming, 10 min of boner pill/sex toy commercials. fvcking annoying

fuck you XM/Sirius

I think most of us expected programming to go downhill when they merged.. They're just taking what they feel is the "best" of the 2 and combining it together. Doesn't clearchannel own a large amount of xm stock?

If there was, would anyone listen to it?

Absolutely. Conservative talk radio always has high ratings. I would be interested in a satellite version because sometimes I listen to AM stations half the state away and they can get fuzzy.

Is there a channel that airs Rush, Glenn Beck, Savage, Hannity, Laura Ingrahm, O'Reilly, etc?

Yes, most of those show are on XM except Rush. I spend 5 or 6 hours a day driving due to my job, so XM is a must. I always listen to Fox Sports radio station's Steve Czaban' Show.

The First Team on Fox with Steve Czaban
Monday-Friday 10am-1pm, ET
Steve Czaban presides over the quintessential morning show for the male sports fan. It is sports? Of course. But it's also a lot more. Things like female eye candy, gambling, electronics, office politics, random yada yada, pop culture, and "all the news that matters to Czabe." The First Team starts the day, going fearlessly into sports topics few shows dare to explore.

Glenn's show is re-aired on 165 "Talk Radio" in the morning. Another you may be interested in is The Schnitt Show on 152 "Extreme". He's based out of Tampa and took Glenn's place when he went national.

Hannity and O'Reilly are both on 168 with radio shows while their TV shows are simulcast on 121.

Ugh, Schnitt is nationally syndicated now? Fucker broadcasts out of Tampa, he's a bigot with a stick up his ass.

I usually just listen to O&A and Ron and Fez. Other then that I use XM for traffic and sometimes XM comedy. I don't stick to any one station, I usually surf around.

let's just hope that with all of this new found bandwidth they can up the sound quality on the music stations and a bit on the talk show stations.

i give the new Sirius XM a 2.3% chance of upping the sound quality within the next 5 years. it's just not important to enough people. it is, however, why i cancelled Sirius a couple years ago.

sirius has the superior music channels and DJ's EXCEPT for the trance station XM82 the system. Its replaced by area now which is horrible in my opinion. i am pissed that the system is gone now 🙁

sirius always treated electronic like an afterthought but XM's trance was amazing, mainly because the system was a worldspace satellite station that was also broadcasted on xm. (meaning lots of euro's listened to it and had a heavy euro influence)

after listening to Area again on wednesday, i must say that they it sounds alot better than when it was just on sirius. Im appeased for now and hope all the other merged stations have gotten better. Lets hope that the channels keep improving their content!

What new found bandwidth? They're still using the same satellites...
