XM's Channels Rearranged

So I'm driving home from work and all of a sudden my radio stopped working. Changed channels a few times and now wtf.. my channels are all different and some on my presets dont exist anymore!

Looks like XM's channel merge with Sirius finally went through tonight. I lost one of my dance channels, System 82, but gained Area 80 and woohoo!! BBC-Radio1! I know the hip hop channels got affected and same with the rock ones. Haven't really gone through the whole lineup yet.

Great, now i have to reprogram my presets...

That is weird. I never thought it would actually happen.

Sounds less like a merger and more like a "pay extra for the other channels" deal.

XM channels have been going screwy for a month or more now. I was mad that they took a bunch of my favorite stations off until I started going through the stations sequentially and found them again.

Personally, I'm excited. I frickin' love Octane and Faction!!!! I missed that soo much from Sirius before I switched to XM for Opie and Anthony.

I actually want to go sit in my car and listen for a few hours. 😛

(Warning: I'm a SatRad fanboy)

Just got an email regarding this:

Garcia.

And new entertainment channels including:

I received a similar email from Sirius about the lineup changes:

Everything worth listening to is now on Sirius. We're excited to announce our great new lineup, including new music channels and more!

Along with your favorites, we've added new channels, shows, legendary DJs and celebrity hosts, giving you more of what you love. Now you have more great commercial-free music, like Tom Petty's Buried Treasure, Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour, as well as politics on POTUS and sports talk on Mad Dog Radio!

So, explore the dial. Check out the new programs and enjoy!
We know you will agree ? Everything Worth Listening To Is Now On SIRIUS.

I just noticed all of my channels are named differently but I did keep all of my presets. At least some of the naming conventions actually make sense now. Fred - Alt Nation

you get baseball

I was an early adopter to XM. I always thought XM would buy out Sirius back in the day, but I'm cool either way as long as sat radio survives.

How's the compression? I dropped XM because it was getting compressed beyond belief. Can't imagine how bad it is with *even more* channels getting pumped in now.

FWIW, I heavily preferred Sirius's linuep.

Octane > Squizz
Buzzsaw > Boneyard
Hard Attack > Liquid Metal
Lithium > Lucy/Ethel whatever else of the billion alternative channels XM had
And there was nothing else like Faction although it went heavily downhill after it's initial launch.

Dude, it's like early xmas for XM listeners! Holy shat Octane kills Squizz (RIP Bodhi you sucked ass), Faction rocks, and the new Liquid Metal Dj is melting my face. Not to mention we also get Grateful Dead, Buffet, Springsteen, Jam band channels. Fck yes!!

THEY CHANGED SQUIZZ WHAT THE FUCK

HOW CAN YOU FUCKS SAY OCTANE IS BETTER?!?!?!?!?

Instead of getting Tool in the morning I get this fucking alt-rock bullshit as;dlkfjakldfjklasjdflkasdjfklasjdklfjsalkfj FUCK

//edit

K the description on XM sounds the same so what the fuck, did I just get a shitty sample last night

And both services killed their punk channels. Faction is not a proper replacement, although I am happy to see Octane, Faction and Lithium on my XM.

sirius has the superior music channels and DJ's EXCEPT for the trance station XM82 the system. Its replaced by area now which is horrible in my opinion. i am pissed that the system is gone now 🙁

sirius always treated electronic like an afterthought but XM's trance was amazing, mainly because the system was a worldspace satellite station that was also broadcasted on xm. (meaning lots of euro's listened to it and had a heavy euro influence)

crap! System is gone? I bought an app to record XM on my PC so i could record System & The Bob Edwards Show.

System, Bluesville , XMComedy, & XNPR are the only stations I really listen to.

great news! the last couple of presets were set to filler stations that i never went to unless there was absolutely, positively nothing of interest playing. looks like thats all about to change!

Yeah, the System used to have a killer Drum and Bass show as well. They cancelled that. blah.

Yeah it sucks they dropped Fungus from XM's lineup... maybe they'll bring back something like it soon.

You can still listen to the system on xm radio online, but that wont help me in my 2 hours in the car. i just hope they bring some of the syndicated shows from the system to area like oslo nights and ASOT, and give zoltar a job on area!!!

octane is a really good modern rock channel. i think mainstream people will be more satisfied (rock, pop etc)

Problem is I can get mainstream music over FM. I haven't listened to Octane since the switch but it better be at least close to Squizz. I'm a 3 month new vehicle trial though so it's not like I'm paying for it. 😉

Yeah, actually Worldspace filed for bankruptcy last month, so that could also be another reason why they dropped the station. Although I read the bankruptcy was just bad timing because XM never planned on keeping that station after the merger. It's a bummer... but we'll see how the newly revamped Area 80 sounds like..

I am LOVING 90's on 9, nice addition to Sirius. 🙂 🙂

I've been with Sirius for about 5 years now, well worth the money. Rock on!
