xmas traditions?

when i was younger, everyone (from grandparents to great grandchildren) gather for a big dinner party during christmas eve... at the strike of 12 midnight, the older kids get to launch their show on "firecrackers"... we treat new years eve in the same manner too... both christmas day and new years day are "lazy days" as everyone tends to stay in bed almost the whole day (too tired from yesterdays activities)... but for 4 years now (being away from everyone else) i get to celebrate both christmas and new year without so much frills... just a simple dinner and hours of taking on the phone, calling my family back home....
