i am not cluesless socially. I just don't want to bring a lady and have her sit there all alone for many hours clueless. Since she knows no one there.

its fine with me since i can go on and on till the moon comes out about techology stuff..

me just being considerate.

The girl goes becuase of you...not because of the event. Who cares what the atmosphere is like as you should be the one making it entertaining and worth being there.

If you talk about technology with her around, unless she's into that stuff, you might as well go jump off a building...

I'd recomend bringing a (female) friend. that way, if the party is lame, you at least have someone to talk with all night instead of having to make boring small talk with the same people you work with every single day.

that's always been my strategy for corporate parties and random weddings.
