xmarks for chrome never syncs

alright maybe not never, but barely ever.

When i used to use it in FF it would sync by itself sometimes, and then ALWAYS sync when i shut down firefox. I set it up last night and it did the initial sync at 3am, have browsed and bookmarked some after that, then i woke up and have been browsing and bookmarking today. Still hasnt synced again yet.

Can i set it up so it works like firefox?

Is there anything else i can use besides x-marks that does a better job, ive been using it for a while now but i might give something else a shot.

For some reason in Chrome, "Automatically Sync" is not enabled by default. Go into the xMarks settings and under the sync tab, check the automatically sync box. That did the trick for me. No issues yet.

Thanks for this. After having the same issue as OP, I'll try it out soon. But, it looks like a really dumb thing NOT to use that as default.

wow, can't believe i didnt see that. I agree though it is pretty stupid that this isnt automatically enabled.

It still doesnt sync as much as id like to to though. For example what if i bookmark something and then immediately close my browser. Then ill go on my laptop only to find that my bookmarks werent synced and i wont be able to find it.

Also on top of that, how will xmarks handle the next sync if i then bookmarked something on my laptop and then come back to my desktop and then it finally syncs? Im guessing it might delete something.... arghhhh!!!!!!!!!!😡

? Why use xmarks when Chrome has bookmark syncing built in?

to sync with other browsers. I have used firefox forever, so im slowly trying to see if i like chrome better. I may totally ditch FF if I keep using chrome though, in that case your right i can use the built in syncing.

Personally, I prefer xmarks. The multi-browser sync is just too useful!

Amazing that xmarks in chrome won't prompt you like in firefox if you close your windows without doing a sync.
