XM RADIO!!!

a friend of mine really likes the thing. radio around here is getting boring so i might look into it if i get some extra $$$

Our local radio (Louisville, KY) sucks a$$. I was considering getting either XM or Sirius, but I only spend no more then 1 hour a day driving. I think it's great for people who spend most of their day behind the wheel, like taxi drivers or delivery people.

If I were spending an hour or more per day behind the wheel and I didn't have a CD player and a good collection of music, I would definitely invest in XM. However, you can put in an excellent CD/MP3 player and/or a changer and come out way ahead of XM in the long run. So, if you are going to buy CDs anyway, then why spend the extra $10 a month on XM? Conversely, $10 a month won't even buy a single CD, so if you aren't big into buying music or don't have a collect, XM is a great deal.

It would be perfect for my long commute.

why wouldn't it work there?

probably no canadian broadcast rights, just like directv

xm uses two geostationary satellites who focus their energy on the continental US. there's simply not enough signal that diffuses up to canada.

Anyway, i've had it for about 6 months now. have a trick install where the controller is hidden in my ashtray and the antenna is mounted inside the car on the rear deck. (i think the antenna looks like ass on the outside of the car)

i don't know how i got along w/out it. yes, i have a big cd collection, and yes, i have an mp3 collection, but xm offers a lot more IMHO.

great service.

edit: here's a pic

If I hadn't gotten my Nomad 3 20 gig player and the tape adapter for the car, I would have seriously considered Sat Radio. As it is, I've got enough music.
