There is a thread on FW regarding this. Many have reported getting a flyer

Side 1

Side 2

DON'T call the number on the flyer, call 800-682-4114.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOT if you can get it for $77/yr

Enjoy !!!

Edit: The flyer states valid for eligible factory installed radios, but many have had success with other radios also.

Thanks OP... im in using my Pioneer AirWare that was purchased for $49.99, and had no problems with this $77.00 year deal.. no activation fee and no tax either.

$6.41 a month is a deal !

damn, I was just about to cancel XM because I didn't think I was getting my money's worth at $38.85/every 3 months. If I can take advantage of this, I'm all over it for at least a year. But with everything abandoning XM for Sirius, this is probably the reason they've cut the price so drastically in order to woo subscribers to not only stay, but join.

True.. I also have Sirius but what I like about my XM is the portable "Live" unit and so far Sirius Can't have that with their S50.

I'd figured, when this 1-year expires and if Sirius releases a live portable unit, then im all Sirius.. LOL

There is a way to make the Sirius units portable. Look on ebay for the Xstar system. Just do a search for xstar sirius and you'll see them.

Also, i believe that there has been some discussion that there will be a portable attachment or addon for the sirius S50 unit this summer. I think i saw this on the siriusbackstage forums.

Sirius supposedly is getting lots of good programming and positive response after Stern hit it off well. If I had to choose between XM and Sirius, I'm going Sirius.

Dunno why this has turned into an XM vs. Sirius thread (XM is far suprerior anyway ;)), but I may try this... Think it'll work if I'm already activated?

Oh, I was being serious with that statement. The only sport that really matters to me is baseball, so it was the natural choice, and I couldn't be happier with the music selection (so I can't see any improvement there). And, of course, there's O&A :).
XM also has, hands down, the lead from a technologica standpoint (that Xstar thing looks like a goddamned backpack :x). Sirius might have the edge with sports overall because of NFL... that's about it as far as I know. Granted I've never tried Sirius, but I'm happy enough with XM that I don't think I'd care to.

I just called in and activated XM for an additional year at $77. I was paid up until March and they said the additional year would start then.

She didn't ask anything about the flyer.

jim: I received a flyer in the mail for 1 year activation for $77, I would like to sign up.

CSR: Ok, I have added 1 year of service, how would you like to pay for the activation

:D

sweet, XM>Sirius due to "Coast to Coast AM Radio" which I could never make it through midnight shifts without that show. I had both XM and Sirius for 1 year, kept XM but if I was more into sports I would have kept Sirius. Only thing that pissed me off is when XM dropped "Liquid Metal". ALSO Sirius is putting a Leash on Stern since alot of the Automakers with factory Sirius in there vehicals were complaining about him being so lewd and foul mouthed.

Well isn't that stupid. Like they didn't know what they were getting? Don't get me wrong I have Sirius and can't imagine turning on Stern. He doesn't offend me, I just don't find him funny. When I was 13 I would have loved him :) I listen more to the comedy channels. Raw Dog and Laugh Break, or I try to find 80's and 70's metal. Now here is my question to those who have or have had XM. How are their comedy channels? Laugh Break plays the same stuff over and over. Raw Dog does the same and to top it off it has the Jim Breauer<sp?> show on during the drive home. I like his comedy, but his show is insanely boring.

So should I give up Sirius and go to XM? I mean what are the selling points for Sirius? Stern and the NFL. Neither one interests me. When I first got it the MAJOR selling point was that ALL Sirius channels were commercial free. That changed a while ago. Shouldn't I get a friggen price break?

Any way back to topic. I pay by the year. Should I jump on this deal and go with XM instead? If I were to cancel, would Sirius refund the money for months ahead?

Never hurts to try....

They may offer a refund for the unused months, but may charge you regular rate for the months used

Leash? Where'd you get that info?

No leash, and Stern's show has been more conservative than the existing shows on both sat companies.

Nascar is going to Sirius next year...is this a good time to buy the car system for cheap, and wait to activate?

and where do you get your FACTS about this? It is an unfounded RUMOR.
I am a long time Sirius subscriber (3+ yrs, long b4 Stern came onboard). Stern has commented about this, and it is unfounded and not true, and that is straght from the horses mouth. it is like when he was on terrestrial radio, if you don't like it, turn the damm channel...there are 120+ other channels tho listen to.

Thanks for the info. I called up XM today. I had just signed up for 3 months ending April 12, 2006. The first rep said she would have to restart my service and begin the 1yr today. She said that I could call back on April 12 and get the same deal. I told her that some friends were able to sign up and just have it start when their current payments end and she put me on hold to check. I accidently disconnected (honestly) and the next rep said that my 1 yr for $77 would begin on April 12, 2006 through April 12, 2007. He then asked if I wanted an invoice or if they could charge the card. I went with the card option and he said it would hit on April 12. Not a bad deal IMO.

I actually have both right now. I tried to cancel XM for Sirius, and they gave me a free 6 months since I have been an XM sub since early 2003. I loved XM to death until I started listening to Sirius while I was using my buddys car.

O&A and lil Jimmy N are great, but man they have been ragging on the Stern thing too much. Its funny because Stern bitching about politics non-stop is what drove me to them in the first place lol. He was the last thing I even bothered turning free FM on for.

The baseball thing is cool, but I prefer to watch my sports so thats a wash. And I cant argue with you about the tech, XM does have Sirius there. Those myfi's are really nice.

XM isnt bad at all, but it does seem like Sirius has noticably better programming.

When it comes time to pick one I am most likely keeping Sirius

Anyways, sorry to get OT, just wanted to share my experiance.

You could check out their online service. Its free for three days and like... $8 per month I think ? They dont have ALL the channels, but should give you a general idea of their programming. Check it out for three days + see if you like it. At least that way you wont have to commit to any hardware.
