Thinking about getting one of these two, as I drive 45 mins to work everyday. I listen to Am radio a bit, but I often lose reception as I get closer to my work place. I'm looking to get one of these that I can hook up in my car, but don't want to have to tear up the dashboard to install it. I drive a Ford so I'm assuming there are car kits that can just be plugged into my existing radio.

If it were me I would wait and see what happens with the merger since the 2 use different receivers.

I have Sirius and love it. Tried XM out on there free online trial, and was less than pleased. It all comes down to the types of music you like. I agree with the others though, wait and see what happens after the merger.

Yeah, same time Apple and MS had their big merger just before Lowe's and Home Depot teamed up.

Uh, Sirius and XM are trying to merge. They announced so about 10 months ago, they are just waiting on government approval.

I  my XM radio, i have a 2 hour round trip commute, so it is great

i prefer my portable XM vs. my wife's built in due to the remote and larger screen, i can preview multiple channels before changing the station

Definitely Sirius. You get Bubba the Love Sponge, Howard, and blue collar comedy channel (those three are worth it to me by themselves). Plus you can pay it off for a lifetime for $499 (which is what I did).

I LOVE my Sirius and wouldn't go back to regular radio for ANYTHING. Don't worry about the merger. If they merge (hopefully), your Sirius radio should still work. The only difference is that you'll get XM content also.

I have Sirius and my room mate has XM. We both agree Sirius is better. XM plays a lot of the same songs over and over. XM's signal will cut out a lot where Sirius will have it. And for me i like metal and Sirius plays a better selection than XM. Also i like Stern and hate O&A.

My day job actually merged with my night job last week. Don't get your panties in a bunch Mr. Whiney Man.

I'd go with Sirius if you're a fan of good talk radio, plenty of radio celebs. but I'd go with XM if you wanto guarantee that you'll be able to listen to a sporting event, they pretty much have the rights to all of the important ones.

MrLee was being serious, until he got shot down. Then he tried to turn it into a joke. We all know, MrLee.

I've had Sirius for about 4 years now, I love it.

Yeah dude, I was serius (zing!) all the way up until BK and McDonals. We all know the King would kick Ronald's ass until he grabbed the rest of his posse and they got all Rubble on him and shit.

Sirius has NFL. XM does not. Also, Sirius has Nascar if you go for that sort of thing-it's kind of cool, you can pick a driver and listen to his conversations with his crew.

I listen to Howard Stern pretty much all the time though. I have the Pioneer Sirius integration in my HU in my car so there are no seperate controllers which is very cool. It even works with my steering wheel controls. When I'm not listening to Stern I'll usually listen to something on my ipod or some of the music stations on Sirius. It's also cool to be able to listen to any NFL game live on the Sports channels and I have done that on a few occassions.

I never listen to terrestrial radio anymore. I find it amusing that the station Howard Stern was on in NY now has almost no share of the market now that he's gone.
