I dont know much about these Chinese brands. But lately, their smartphones was quite populer on media.

Since i never owned one, i don't know about their built quality or software stability.

Specially , Xiaomi Mi note pro looks very good , at least on photos . I'm thinking about buying one.

What do you think about these two brands? Would you prefer them to Samsung? even iphone?

They're two relatively popular brands (especially Xiaomi) that make nice phones, but be careful before diving in -- since they're not officially made for North America or Europe, you probably won't get LTE data. Depending on where a model originates, you may also miss out on official Google apps.

I'd personally steer clear outside of China... not that they're bad, but the money you spend on some Apple/Samsung/etc. device meant for your market will probably be worthwhile.

They are low price and look nice, but usually don't have the LTE or all of 3G bands for the USA.
Don't think it will get many updates either.

Definitely do not prefer them to iPhone or Samsung/HTC/LG/Moto/etc.
Xiaomi is pretty popular in China (from what I read at least), but they are basically an iPhone clone. From the way the phone looks, to the OS skin, to how they launch their products.

If you wanted a low cost, high end phone from a Chinese brand, get a One Plus One.

My experience with a Chinese phone/ROM agrees with the above evaluations. There is a high chance modem is not going to function normally, and you will most likely run into a language wall in phone's operation. Solutions to a trouble will be difficult to obtain. I have no doubt the hardware is worth the money in comparison to similarly priced phones in the U.S., but if you cannot use it for some basic functions, let alone to the fullest extent, it will frustrate you to no end.

I don't live in US and we don't use LTE here. So thats not an issue for me.

They may have started as Apple copycats, but i have been looking at their latest models. They are not copycats any more. New phone designs are quite good.

The problem for me is the safety . If an phone is sold in USA , then it has to pass stricter safety standards, but i don't know which safety standards they enforce in China.

I have been using Asus Zenfone 5 for the last month. I bought this as an temporary phone , so i wasn't expecting much .
but to my surprise , this is much better than i expected. Good performance, and overall nice quality. Only problem is mediocre camera and battery life.

it seems , this phone is not cheap, other phones are expensive. We have been overpaying for these phone for quite some time.

if Xiaomi delivers an internatinal version which has proper English UI. I may get one. if not that, than i will upgrade to Asus Zenfone 2 or Zenfone Zoom. Having a phone with "intel inside " logo has a nice geeky side.

I've been eying this for a month now.
Huawei Ascend Mate7.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the Lg G2 but just looking at something new.
To me, its the best looking month right now. I love phones with little bezels.
From what I've been reading, It has T-mo LTE bands and people have confirmed it.
Still a bit steep. I've seen it brand new for $466 on Ebay but waiting for the $400 mark before I seriously think about getting one.

They still are quite the iphone clone. That includes things like removing the app drawer. Personally, if I was going to go with a Chinese brand, it would be Oppo or Oneplus. They seem to be the two most serious about going global at the moment.
