The V3 is comparable to a 9200SE, but has HDTV output (or something fancy). The V3XT is probably something in between a 9200 and a 9200SE, with HDTV. The V5 is comparable to a 9200, and the V8 is comparable to a 9600. That was based off performance comparisons I saw 6-8 months ago, so things may have changed.

I'm actually silently hoping XGI will do...something.
I like rooting for struggling underdogs.

Yeah, i'd like to see them put some pressure on the two big dogs.

Even if they focused on the mid-end only, since they seem to have issues making higher end.

Maybe be extremely competitive in the mid-end market, & sell for less than ATI & nVidia.

That'd be fun :)

What ever happened to Matrox? It's almost as though they've had their glory days and have given up on things since the Parhelia.

Any word on the next generation from Matrox? Even entry level cards from ATi/nVidia are about as fast as a Parhelia these days. One would think that they would have to do *something* to continue to survive as a company.

yes, a new "Kyro II" would be excellent to have back on the menu. It's been a while since a we've had a viable solution other than nVidia or ATI.

V3, like their XP5 mobile part, stems from the Trident legacy of mobile parts, and is a DX8.1 core.

V3XT, V5 and V8 stem from the SiS Xabre branch, and are DX9.

The nice thing about all these is that they have HDTV support right out of the box; performance, as the Xabre parts already demonstrated in their time, isn't too bad either (compared to similarly priced offerings from the big boys, of course). XGI also seem to do reasonably well in driver quality.

I agree about the Kyro 2 but seeing a video card with powervr series 5 seems very unlikely right now. :(
