XFX vs. eVGA 7800GT

I've been recommended multiple times to get the eVGA 7800GT (516 model)... however, the XFX 7800GT just went on sale (well, a $20 rebate).

The differences right off the bat are a faster core clock on the XFX (only 5mhz faster) and a slower memory clock (20mhz slower) on the XFX. These are factory overclocked speeds.

The other difference is in the warranty. eVGA offers a lifetime warranty, but I can't find the warranty info on the XFX. Does anyone know what kind of warranty it comes with?

Bottom line is, with these cards so similiar, does brand really matter? Should I get the XFX or stick with the much recommended eVGA?

i have 2 XFX 7800GT's (the ones with the blue PCB and LED's) they are awesome, cant remember what the warranty is like (is it double lifetime or something?)

EVGA are good, but having had a good experience with XFX id chose the cheaper of the two.

Finally found warranty info, it is double lifetime (you and next owner of the card for lifetime).

So, warranty info is equivalent... one positive vote for XFX... I think that's enough for me. Buying the XFX.

Thanks.

Good choice. I've got the exact same card there. The XFX is very stable and with the right cooling environments it can be pushed a bit faster too. I love mine. Can't go wrong.

Man it really sounds like XFX and eVga are stepping up their customer service game. As long as people dont abuse this, this is a great overall good for everyone except their competitiion :)

I belive the eVGA waranty covers 3rd party heatsinks. If you're going to swap the NSF out then that should decide it for you. If not then go with the cheaper one, i've got an XFX that i'm happy with.

I've never owned a XFX VGA. But I'm happy with my two eVGA 7800GTs. My N518 OCs to around 510/1250, but the N516 tops out at 480/1180 - even with the copper heat-sink. I've heard many good things about XFX, but my next videocard will be an eVGA.

The eVGA covers 3rd party HSF's, overclocking...pretty much anything short of flashing/hard modifications. Of course, if you break it, it's still your own fault :p

I try to stick with eVGA and Leadtek.

My eVGA 6800NU AGP is still working very strong and even more modded ( unlocked / OC'ed ) with the Silencer NV on it. I have had nothing but good things to say about it and thus bought the combo 7800GT / NF4 SLI mobo from them. Waiting for the FED EX and the 6800 goes into my Barton 2800+ my 3800+ gets the 7800GT.

HMM.... dunno what I am gonna do with the SLI MOBO since I have a ASRock DualSATA II... but I digress.

eVGA all the way. Pine/XFX might be better than it was but its no eVGA.
