Hello!

I have some weird problem with my XFX TS 550 PSU.

First of all, here is my PC config:
I5-2500K
AsRock P67 Pro 3
8 GB RAM DDR3 Kingston HyperX
Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
XFX TS 550

I started OCCT Power supply test and 20 seconds after start, heard this noise from PSU: (pls listen this video in 2.0 or 2.1 sound system)

http://www.mediafire.com/watch/8rrei6i1uwk2ufo/VID_2015...

What's that noise? It's present only at full PC load (occt PSU test). I started this test a few times more, and "clicking" sound was not present...or it was present for couple of seconds. It is not fan for sure.

Also I noticed this voltage behaviours (measured from MOLEX connector):

12.35 V - IDLE
12.20 V - START TEST>>>> *click click click* sound from PSU >>>> 12.28 V >> click sound stop
12.35 V - STOP TEST.

While ~20 first seconds of test, the FPS meter in OCCT show ~300 FPS, and then only 80 FPS - I think it's related to LinPack CPU test start - and here voltage raise to 12.28 V.

What's that noise from PSU?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings.

It sounds like the PSU is being overloaded.
That GPU is a thirsty card.
I would recommend getting a 750W PSU.
I could be wrong though.

Definitely not. Worst case, the 970 pulls about 150W, plus about 115W worst case for the 2500k when overclocked. I have almost the exact same system the OP does, 4.3Ghz 2500k, EVGA 970, plus a few hard drives, on the modular twin of that power supply, the XTR 550.

OP, as I just mentioned, I have the XTR 550, which is just the modular version of the TS 550. I haven't noticed that noise before, even when running prime95 and furmark simultaneously. I am hesitant to guess on what it might be, but I agree that it doesn't sound like the fan to me. It sounds electrical in nature. Maybe a bad capacitor, or defective switching transistor? Hard to say. Personally, I'd reach out to XFX for an RMA if possible if I were you.
