I wouldnt say best bang for buck, for a 5500 xt is around the same price, maybe slightly more, lower temps, not needing as much power, and its newer tech, so really pick ur poison. If amd isnt your thing, can get a 1650 Super OC evga for around the same amount as well, but its a b stock item, if wanting new, then its over 2 bills then, so you may want this or go with a 5500 or maybe little better in speed if running over 1080p look into the 5600, or for $369 can get a 5700XT which will run everything, but over 2x as much as this card or the 5500xt. So its really your wallet telling you what you can or can not have. I have a 5700XT myself, running on a Sceptre 1080p 185hz monitor, and plays everything under the sun butter smooth. I was running my card on 42" TCL 4k tv, but I wasnt happy with it, looked fine and all, but aaa titles were running in the low to mid 30's in 4k, and if I had to drop it to 1440P or 1080P whats the point in having a 4k tv then to get it all to run smooth So dropping to a 32" 1080p with high hz was, for me, the sweet spot

I also had 3 of the RX580's at one point, not the 8gig variant however, for if you look at benchmarks between the 2, it doesnt matter one bit, they both ran the same, and got the same fps as well, so really made no sense, to me, to spend more to have 4 gig more on the card, that did nothing. You can find the 4 gig versions of the 580 on ebay going for around $100 shipped, if you dont mind refurb or used, just making sure it doesnt list up anywhere as parts/broken card

Id also mention a 1070 or 1080, or 1070 ti card, but they are still wanting, even for a used one, a butt ton for them. I sold my last 580 card on ebay and here too I think, for $95, for I also had a 1070, so I took his 580, gave him my 1070, and got the 5700 with my tax money. The 1070 is faster then a 580, but for a used 1070, you can get a 5600XT or even a reg 5700 non xt, so again, your wallet, your voices in your head, listen, dont listen, its you that will be kicking yourself in the butt for the choice you made, or not.

Thank you for your insight funboy6942. The voices in my head are telling me to buy a video card. Have a Asus Tuf X570, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, TEAMGROUP T-Force Dark Pro Samsung IC 16GB KIT (2 x 8GB) 3200MHz (PC4 25600) CL 14 DDR4, be quiet! Dark Rock Tf cooler. Ordered and cancelled the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB drive and bought the Corsair MP600. Set it up last night using a WD Velociraptor and a very old MSI R7850. And today ordered a video card and promptly cancelled the order. I now have $210.00 sitting in my PayPal account. So the little voices in my head are telling me buy...buy !!! Even knowing AMD and nVidia will be releasing their next generation cards at the end of the year and the prudent thing to do is just be happy with the stuff I already have and wait to buy one of the new cards. Yeah I didn't think so either.

So at this point having lost every argument, I am hoping. This is a decent decision. Probably get a different brand for a little more or a little less.
Have to go put a few bucks for sales tax on the PayPal account. But hey it seems the stars are aligned for this video card. I am really not a fan of kicking my own ass. But hey it will and has been taking a thrashing for the last month.

If youre able to wait a few days, then you can get this MSI one for $199, and it has a $15 mail in rebate if you like those kinds of things.

So, does the 4GB version perform noticeably worse at 1080? They are a decent amount cheaper.

There is a zero to 17 fps difference depending as always on the game you are playing.

I will still say though, if you can do a used one, a 1060 or a 1070 would suck up a little more power, but will be faster in almost all game play cases, but it will be hard to find one for the same price as this card used or new now a days. But really if you can do the used, get one, take off the heatsink and put some new paste on it, and you will be good to go for many years to come. So save up 10-20 a month and in a few years get something much better.

I just checked ebay, and you can get a 1070 for $199 to $240 shipped bin

And a GTX 1060 for $135 to $150 shipped for a 3 gb version, and one 6 gb version for $149.97 shipped.

These are all legit cards, shipped from usa, not china fake stuff, and took about 5 min of searching to find a few within the price of the 5500. But again, used not new, so will most likely need some new paste due to age and use, but Ive been buying almost all used cards up to this point before I bought my 5700XT, and aside of taking 10 min to remove the heatsink and apply some paste, have yet to have a problem, knocking on wood, whereas this is my 3rd, yes 3rd, 5700 XFX xt I have had for the first 2 died the day I got it in the mail, and a month later. This 3rd one still seems to be working ok, but I've had more trouble with my new card, then I have had with any used card(s) I have bought, so go figure that one out

But as you can see in this video with a 1070 vs a 5500 8gb benchmark, there is quite a bit of diff between the 2 with them being so close in price new and used, so its your voices in the head again, that will tell you if a new card is worth it or not over a used one for about the same price

I'm also considering a 1650S which can be had for about 170.00. But a used 580 in the 100.00 range is probably the best bang for the buck.
