I've had my 6800 GT running (stock) for about a year now with no problems at all.

I'm really sorry to hear about the problems others have had and I certainly hope that I don't have to deal with their support after hearing all the Horror stories.

I have to wonder though, and not just about XFX, how many problems are caused by people trying to see just haw fast they can get a card to go, then the cook it and want to return it as being defective.

Thats like buying a new car, seeing how many RPM's the motor will turn and when it blows taking it back and saying it was defective.

I'm not accusing anyone of doing this, but I'd bet good money this is what happens in a lot of cases.

by the way, i don't know why but this card needs a 4 pin molex connector.

I had a 6600GT with the rev 2 HSF ( Chrome one ). I used it for a few months before selling it and upgrading to an EVGA 6800GT. The XFX worked fine for me while I had it.

I don't know if I count as I sold my XFX 6800GT to a buddy, but it's been running fine for him since, so that's about a year now with no issues whatsoever.

I HAD a 6600gt but it had issues with the power connector on the rear of the card. For some reason it wouldnt accept power (it would run in 4bit color). I sent an email to xfx and they were willing to exchange/repair for free. Unfortunitly, at that point, I was fed up with Nvidia *another story* and ended up selling it on ebay. Im looking for good prices on x800's and x700pro agps.

well not every card XFX sells has problems but many ppl have problems and its seems their customer service is horrendous...i guess this has dented their reputation.

I have a XFX 6800GT AGP. I bought if from ebay about 4 months ago. I over clocked it to 420/1.1 and it works perfectly.

Bought the first line of XFX 6600GTs back in Nov., only issues I've had were nVidia driver issues that all have since been fixed.

This topic has been discussed in the past too. I do get aggrevated when people go on rants about how crappy XFX is based on what they've read from other people - which may or may not have been based on yet another person's comments. I don't know if I've read anyone here yet with actual negative first-hand experience with XFX customer support. I'm sure there are some, as the same with every company. But the second-hand (or third/fourth-hand) bashing of XFX gets very old very quick.

XFX 6800GT AGP

Went through 4 of the mofos before I got one that worked. Don't know what the problem was, but I sure as hell know that I won't be owning any XFX products in the future ;) .

i have xfx fx5900xt, but it's already broken, seems to be bad memory problem (artifacting on boot). It's starting to show signs of bad memory exactly a year from the date of purchase, so no rma. overclocking is done for testing purpose only, and i only do it maybe 10 times for 3dmark testing, since i don't think the performace difference by overclocking is tangible (at least to me). I have a 5 inch fan blowing some air to the card from the beginning since first i bought it, since it gets pretty hot.. , but that doesn't seem to help anyway...

regards,
gryfon

sorry about resurecting this old topic, but don't want to start a new thread just to complain, anyway:

Like everyone here I was aware about the bad rep XFX was getting. At that time my brother needed a new card to replace an aging Ti200. Despite all bad rep, I knew it's often one person has a problem, many people hear about it, blow it out of proportion, etc. So he got an XFX 6600GT AGP from zipzoomfly. 3 months didn't pass, when the card's fan started craping out, we decided to RMA it instead of buying a new HSF (the original fan is noisy, he's been thinking for some time about getting a zalman hsf) and losing warranty. Anyway, their RMA system doesn't have online tracking feature, you can only call or email to check RMA status. We recieve the card relatively quickly (btw: the packaging was pretty poor). I insert the new card (I noticed it had different serial number), turn on my brother's PC and all I see is checkerboard patterns. I try it in my computer (also has 6600GT, but a Leadtek) same thing, it can boot into windows, but can't do anything in windows because the checkering and artifacting is so bad. Now my brother has to pay to ship the card 2nd time, and live another 1-2 week without a decent video card.

XFX:

At least they're quick with response: XFX promised to ship 2nd replacement card in advance. Their poor packaging might have damaged the card: but in windows Everest reported that the core was running 100 MHz and memory was at 500 MHz. That looks more like unsuccessful BIOS modification, than simply damage in shipping process...

I have a XFX 6800gt. I bought it used from a forum member probably about a year ago. Haven't had any problems with it, and I've been running it at Ultra speeds 24/7.

I have the XFX 6800GT. I bought mine August 2004 and over the Winter break I was getting general video artifacting and freezing up every few seconds, and finally it wouldn't even work. Fired a few emails to XFX, patronized their troubleshooting methods, then RMA'ed it for another card of a newer revision. Had that card ever since and it's been working without problems so far.
