I thought Nvidia said no this practice.

I wonder if it bodes something else-- like they're gonna need it when R600 comes out.

630 core clock means a shader clock of 1460mhz!

So is BFG going to go back into their OCIng business? How about EVGA? Although XFX maybe ok to others, i dont trust their support and lifetime support.

But the most interesting thing is.. price drops on the 8800 series.

Just peaking at newegg, a leadtek 8800 GTS is going for 420 AR, even XFX/EVGA 8800GTS going for 400!!

The 8800GTX has all dropped to $599 while some AR are looking around 550~560!.
This looks like nVIDIA is preparing for the r600 by competing them in price.

I'm more excited to see what nVidia has to offer when they release their 8600gt or similar, more realistically priced cards. Ati has never been able to compare to nVidia in the mid-range sector. So what if R600 is a G80 killer?...the 8900GTX is likely already sitting, waiting to be shipped. Let the wars for the $750 king of cards continue...I'll be happy with my mid-range.
