Hi guys,

Not been around here for ages (hangs head in shame) Wonder if you could help though.

I just got my shiney new XFX GTX260 XXX and this thing gets hot. Now I understand that it's the XXX version so am assuming It will get hotter than a stock unit, but even with my case temp at 30*C. The GPU idles at 60*C and hits 86*C when running FurMark. The cards fan is working properly, spinning up at the right times and actually reducing the GPU temps from 86*C as is it runs faster and faster. Would you say this card is ok or should I RMA it

Also when running furmark does anyone else notice a slight glitching when the fury thing is rotating as I can see this even when my GPU is relativly cool. That may just be a problem in Furmark though?

Thanks guys

Those temperatures are fine... If you really want it to be cooler, crank up the fan speed with rivatuner.

Thanks BlueA, I tried RTuner and had the fan on a string for a while seeing what temps I could come up with. Like you said I can cool the GPU temps with the software however I'd rather do a bit of investigation as to why my system isn't flushing air through properly. I was fine with my XFX 8800GT XXX however with this bit of kit fitted It seems I need to re-think my case airflow a bit.

Thanks a lot though mate for the reassurence

must be your case airflow. I've got a GTX 60 overclocked to 666/1450/1200. I idle around 45*C and then max around 77*C. Not sure about my case temps, but room temperature is usually 70-73*F

Bump your fan up to 50-60% in rivatuner.

It would help if you gave temps on the same scale. FWIW that's something like 21-23degC room temp.

My Oc'ed GTX 260FTW idle is at 39-42c with fan speed @ 60% (used EVGA precision) so to me your temps seem prety high. but it also depends on how many case fans you have and how hot the room is. but all in all you should be fine if your not having any problems other then high temps.

Your card is not faulty so don't worry about that. The dodgy ones shot up to 105C within 40 seconds full load.

Thanks fella's, I appreciate the interest and help. i just received a response from XFX regarding the temps on the XXX 260's and like a few of you said they are normal :)

XFX techincal support informed me that the chips are designed to perform normally up to 110*C before performance may be affected. Just thought I'd post that incase it saves anyone else contacting XFX with the same question.

Cheers guys
