Well, Im about at my wits end here, Ive been trying to get this working all weekend but i CANNOT get sound out of the HDMI on this board. I have the digital output device(HDMI) selected in Vista sounds playback and the status shows at working. I can hook the HDMI cable up to my xbox and the sounds plays through my stereo fine. I plugged a pair of headphones in and got sound through them so I know the sound is working. Ive gone as far as trying this with a fresh install of XP,Vista and even Windows 7 and gotten the same results.

If anyone has any suggestions im all ears...please :)

As far as I know, none of the nvidia cards have a built-in sound chip for HDMI, just ATI cards.

With nividia cards, you must connect a cable from the video card to digital out pins on the motherboard or sound card, and some cards also have a cable to connect to the coax digital out of the mobo/soundcard.

Well the video is built onto the motherboard (DVI, hdmi and vga) is built in. All the reviews ive seen indicate the 8200 series nforce boards carry the audio over hdmi and I can select the hdmi as an audio source in vista and see the indicator light up when the sound plays...just no sound out of it...

Check for the audio being set to mute for digital / HDMI in the soundcard mixer tab / application.

wow, well i solved my problem...bought an ati 3450 and stuck it in there...sound works fine and the blu rays are no longer choppy. It must either be faulty onboard video or some really whacky driver problems because I had the ati up and running in about 5 minutes

I had the same problem with no hdmi audio on my ati system.... turns out that hdmi audio was disabled by default in the bios.

So, if you're still interested, check that out.
