I just got this for Christmas but its a revision 2.2 ...

Is this card worth keeping or should i send it back? I heard it might have 2.8NS memory? For $20 more i can get either a Radeon 9700PRO or a different (real) 5900 NU

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks

send it back, the extra 20 will allow you to o/c to ultra speeds!

but if you do, people here will hate you

I'd keep your card. I don't think it's worth the time/hassle of sending it back. If you look at benchies faster mem doesn't make that big of a difference. And of course if you won't be overclocking, it will make no difference.

i am considering it. I bought it at newegg so it shouldnt be a problem but at looking at benchmarks its only 2fps slower overall than 5900NU. I dont overclock so it shouldnt be a problem...

Thats a nice price compared to the $450 it used to be, but its still $100 dollars more than the 5900 after taxes and so close a call id stick to the 5900. More that ~$200 just to play games, something that does absolutely nothing to improve windows operation, I dont think so. You must have alot of disposable income.

You had a better christmas than I did.

Well, If it makes you feel any better, I only get about 950 3DMark '03 points with my GeF3 Ti200 and AthlonXP 2400+. I would keep the 5900 it if it were mine.

Ok i have been playing with Both the Radeon 9800PRO and the Geforce FX 5900 and i have to say i really cant see a performance difference in games. Actually i believe the Geforce FX runs the games i play (Everquest, Horizons) better than the Radeon.. On my system (athlon XP 2500+, 512mb DDR ram, Nforce 2 motherboard) The Geforce FX 5900 gives me 5000 3DMARK 2003 score and the Radeon 9800PRO gives me 5,500.. in 3dmark 2k1 the Geforce FX 5900 gives me 13800 and the radeon 9800PRO gives me 15300... But for some reason in games the Geforce seems *smoother*

I was using the latest drivers for both cards btw.

so im taking the Radeon back.
