XFX FX 5900 $176.99 after MIR

Hurry if interested, as this is a Buy.com 24 hour special. $239.99 less $60 buy.com mail in rebate. Still, lowest price I have seen on a 5900. Link

I think this is a really good deal, but where does it say this is a 1 day deal? The rebate is good for purchases through 12/30/03.

I believe it's 2.8 ns...I've been looking at this card for a week or so and I haven't seen any XFX 5900 (NU) cards with the 2.2 ns memory. XFX's wed-site does not indicate more than 1 model of 5900 (NU) so I don't think they "officially" offer any cards with 2.2 ns memory, but one could always get "lucky".

add $10 to your cart and add this coupon that's out there :

buy.com customers take $15 OFF the purchase of $250 or more in the Computer, Software and Electronics Stores (Affiliate).*

how do you tell what ram you have without rippig the heatsink off???

I know mine clocks well over ultra speeds, but is there some way to tell.

Well, the memory clock is 800MHz DDR which equates to 2.5ns. That seems like too big a factory overclock if they did have 2.8ns memory.

An FX 5900 for under $180 is a STEAL, even with 2.8ns chips. If I wasn't up to my ears in video cards, I'd jump all over this. Heck, I started to anyway just because it's such a hot deal! 😀

Bah, decisions to make.
This looks pretty good, the 128 bit in the product description does make me wonder though.

it would be a hell of an overclock to have 2.8ns rum @ 400 mhz, i'm pretty sure this is gonna be 2.2ns

Does anyone know if this card supports twin view or dual view for two monitors? (or watever it is called)

I am new at this and have two monitors now, it would be nice if anyone can provide some helpful insights about what kinds of card(s) to get... and wat to look for.

Thanks!

Argh, I have the card and T3 dvd in my cart for $239.95 ($179.95ar) mouse pointer hovering, finger twitching.....................

Perhaps the $240 price is only good for 24h, then goes up to $300 or something.

Ehh, teh coupon was only good for electronics so the combo of the card and dvd didnt qualify, went ahead and bought the card though. $177.00 after rebate was too good to pass up.

It wouldn't be that big of an overclock, and card manufacturers have been known to sell cards that are overclocked like that right out of the box. Besides, just look at leadtek or gainward's 5900--both sell a model that only has 2.8ns ram. Still, even if it is just 2.8ns ram $177 is a hell of a deal for a 5900. I don't need a video card but I'm really tempted to jump on this..

But the Yamaha 10 pack of CD-Rs for $15.99 - $15MIR = $0.99 with free shipping did qualify. 😀

My order came out to:
$236.99 XFX 5900
$ 15.99 Yamaha CD-R 10 pack
-$15.00 $15 off $250 purchase
-$60.00 XFX rebate
-$15.00 CD-R rebate
-$ 4.76 Ebates
-------
$158.22 with free shipping for the 5900 and 10 Yamaha CD-Rs

I'm pretty sure the XFX card will have 2.2ns or 2.4ns memory.

http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_a350_tdh_lx_2.html Only the "A350 TDH LX" version of the A350 has 2.8ns memory. The regular A350 TDH versions use 2.2ns memory. Gainward has been selling overclocked GPUs and memory for a while, but they're an oddball that way. XFX does sell some gimped cards, but it's clear from the SE or "64-bit" designation on the box that the products are slower. I've never heard of an overclocked out of the box XFX model, so if this one is overclocked, it will be a first. I expect 2.2ns or 2.4ns memory on the model that ships.

i agree

128bit means it supports 128bit color precision... it does have 256-bit ram
