Dang, the prices are on a free fall, the 290 are selling for close to $250. Good time to buy a card. Buy I guess the month of Dec is a deal time for video cards, I remember I paid close to $200 for 280X last winter. the prices shot up by almost $100 afterwards.

Do you think the 290/290x is really headed for a price increase though? Even with demand way over supply right now the GTX 970's are still selling pretty close to MSRP. And right now I'd find it hard to justify a 290x at $300 after rebate vs a 970 at $335/$345 shipped, at least at 1080p.

I know AMD is saying these price cuts are temporary, but how can they be if they expect to sell anything in their higher price bracket while the GTX 970 is so under priced? The 970 will completely cannibalize their sales of the 285/280x/290/290x if the prices rise much.

I can't quite justify it myself yet, but NCIXUS has the gigabyte windforce 290 for $254.99 and they say its on sale till 11/30. I'd guess the sales last until the end of the year.

Wow, that's one of the nicer 290's too, isn't it? I had to stop at Best Buy today and almost died laughing when I saw them selling a reference R9 270x for $246 when I got my 290 last week for $230 from newegg. Why would you guess the sales to end at the new year though when Nvidia could be releasing their 960 about then? (supposedly Q1 2015)
