It is basically a OC'd 4870, so unless you are on a big monitor and need the extra VRAM, you can just OC your card.

It is but than 4890 have very good overclocking ability. many reviews show 4890 hitting 1ghz and is neck and neck with GTX280 285.

I play on 1920x1200 so I think the 1GB memory would be quite nice over the current 512MB.

HD 4890 in 3 weeks when it's going to be $200 out the door. The relatively low max temp on the HD 4890 makes it the real winner. It should be fairly quiet even when OC'd to ~1GHz. Also going to assuming the HD 4890 X2 will come out sooner than later despite the signs against... because of that low heat output.

OH, well the 4850X2 will be better the the 4890 for its better then one 4870, thats if power and heats wont be a problem for you because the X2 is going to suck more then a $50 whore, and pump more heat into the case them a heat gun, so it would really come down to what the hell you need all that power for.

I tried to CF 2 4850's in my rig and it proved to be more problems then it was worth for me, so Im going to for now just upgrade at some point to a 4870 or 90, most likely the 90 for the huge jump in speed and heat reduction mostly. Im in no need for another space heater in the room, and this 90 lowers the temps by a good bit over the 50/70's for me to jump because of that alone.

yes, the 4890 is supposed to be a monster overclocker. Also, to the best of my knowledge everybody who got 1ghz used CCC to get there, meaning that it is very likely to be able to go higher than that with ATT, AMD gpu clock tool, etc.

$200 AR shipped is probably the price to jump on for this, but make sure that it's a real upgrade for you...
