XFX 7900 GT Video Glitches

I've had the 7900GT/GTO card for about a few months and some of my games have massive graphical glitches and flickers. I don't know if it's the 7900gt cards in general or if it's XFX's fault. i asked for help but they've yet to reply back.

some of my games have been working great, but others have been tragic. couple games that have massive issues are Star Wars KOTOR2, and Tiger Woods PGA 06.

If anyone can shed some light into that would be great.

the model number is PV-T71G-UDE7

the clocks for that model are 520/1500 factory OC'd, that could be the problem. you could try is running the card a stock speeds for a 7900GT 450/1320, and see artifacts still continue. if they continue then the card could possibly be bad.

Well, if you got it a couple months ago, you could have gotten one of the cards from the bad batches when they first came out. Try underclocking it, and if that doesn't work you can always just submit an RMA through XFX's site.

i should have asked this question earlier, but which drivers are you using?

to underclock your card download coolbits 2.0 it's a registry hack that will allow you change you clock speeds in the NV control panel like so example

I'm pretty sure i have the latest nvidia driver from 8/11/06 version 9.1.4.7.

i'll try the program that you recommended and see if it works.

wait what should my memory clock frequency be underclocked?
right now it says core clock is 520 and memory clock is 750.

for some reason the memory clock doesn't go past 900mhz. but for some reason the default is at 750.

WOAH! The memory speed is doubled to get the actually clock, because of the GDDR vram. So, if you set it to 900, your actually tried to to run it at 1800mhz memory. And its likely you damaged your card if you did.

Please read CKXP's second post for default (factory OC) speed, and suggested underclock to stock speed.

The card uses DDR memory, so Coolbits shows 750MHz (= 1500DDR). Try using a slower memory speed than 750MHz e.g. CKXP recommends 660MHz (= 1320DDR).

ok so i underclocked it to 450/1320 but the flickering is still happening.
xfx still hasn't gotten back on what's the problem. does anyone know if the 7900gt has been buggy?

well, yes, there was a problem with the earlier cards, and if you have had yours for a few months, you could be a victim. XFX shouldn't have any argument to replacing your card. how long ago did you email them?
