I bought this card (not knowing there was more then one type) from Monarch when there was the rebate going on. When it came and had a molex connector I was kind of surprised. I specifically went out and bought an expensive power supply that has a PCI-E connector to power my new card. Then I came across this thread:

http://www.monarchcomputer.com/forum/sh...&threadid=6412&perpage=15&pagenumber=2

Now I'm worried about:

- Is the molex connector properly going to supply this card with enough juice?
- Is this card crazy loud?

Does anyone here have this exact model? The card is black and has a molex power connector. If so how has it been working for you? I need to decide if I am going to deal with returning it.

I just called XFX and they said they are going to swap out my card (with the 4-pin Molex) for the PCI-e version. Supposedly they are going to call me next week.

Your new psu should have a 6 pin pci-e power cable. Just plug that into the 6pin connector on the back of your xfx card then that's that. You won;t need the Molex cable that comes with the card. The XFX card's stock fan is fairly quiet in my pc but ran a tad warm. So I just went to the Egg and ordered an AC Silencer 5 rev3 Monday and it just caem this afternoon.
I've just finished installing tonight the AC Silencer 5 rev 3 onto my 7800GT. Right off the bat, idle temp drops from low 50c (stock) to low 40c and in game load (FEAR) it drops from high 70c (stock) to low 60c. It looks like average temps drop at least 10degreesC from stock cooling fan. I will leave it like this for a while before start overclocking the alreadied factory overclocked card.

Installation took about 30 minutes including taking off the stock cooling fan, clean the old compound offf the gpu and the surrounding memories and putting the new AC silencer rev3. There was no mod of any kind done to accomodate the AC Silencer. It's happy to report a few db's drop in fan noise as well. I paid $28.99 shipped from the Egg and it's money worth spent, IMO.

Thats the crux of the problem videopho. My XFX card has a 4-pin MOLEX connector not the normal 6 pin PCI-E.

What phone number did you use? How long did it take you? Any advice you can give me when you talked to them? Basically, were they knoweldegable about the issus and nice, or were they jerks and tried to stonewall you?

I bought mine from the Egg when they had a very good discount + rebate + CDO2. I did not encounter any issue installing the card. Thanks god!
