My new 1GB Xfx 6950 buzzes while gaming. What the heck is that? Is it the Caps, coils VRM's etc? Its driving me nuts...

It could be either:
a.) Extremely high FPS that causes this noise on all cards.
or
b.) Coil Whine which you would need to find out if it's the GPU or power supply.

as above poster mentions, could be your power supply.i have recently started to hear wierd high pitched noises and thought it was my g card, but have found out its definately my corsair ax750(only does it under load) and it seems to be getting worse:S.Maybe try and run prime 95 or something similar to put some load on your psu and see if you still hear the noises.

Its the card. And its going back. This is the 2nd XFX card to do that. Both the 6870 and 6950 did it. I will probably fo with the MSI 6870 twin frozr..

Nice one LOL. I'll try that. I just hope it doesn't sting me :) And I already use Vsync that did nothing. I had a MSI 6870 before and it was dead silent. I think the 6870 is plenty for 1920x1080 and the rest of my system...

fyi, I have an MSI 6870 twin froz 3, and the whine IS PRESENT only when there is ridiculously high fps, once vsync is enabled the noise is gone.. i.e. in Crysis Warhead menu screen the fps is really high and the whine is very obvious, once vsync enabled the noise is gone.

This card te 6950 is pretty bad though. I can hear it even with Vsync enabled. I wouldn't mind if it was a low pitched buzz, but this is a high pitched buzz and its all I really hear while gaming..
