hey guys, Couple of days ago I bought 2 XFX 6800 Ultras.

yes you heard me, 2 :)

This in order to find the best OC`er.

First one wouldnt even run 435\1150, but i suspect this one was not working fully.

now, I installed the other one. ( this thing is HUGE )

I have a Moderately vented Antec Super Lanboy with 2 SilenX 14DB fans 120mm ( one in the front, one in the back), which replaced the original 25db factory-preinstalled fans.

I also have a Enermax Coolergiant 600W ( SILENT!), and a XP-90 from thermalright + 14db 92mm from Silenx.

Now, this baby ( XFX) does 456/1170 with ease @ standard bios&volt (1.4v), Ive been running 3dmark03 5 times consequently in a row and hours of Doom 3.

thats pretty impressive, it came 425\1100 out of the box.

Temps are 49\50C in idle, and 60-63C during load.

just figured I should tell you all.

Cheers from norway, axel

btw, on my stock system MSI K8N NEO2 + winchester 3500+ corsair twinx4400C25 2x512 @ 2-2-2-5 @ 200mhz,

this baby gave : 3dmark01: 23149 points | 3dmark03: 13160 points | 3dmark05: 5521 points

pretty darn impressive concidering everything but the video card is running stock :)

This is pretty sad. You're going to cost the company whatever profit they made on the sale of one card with the return of the other, because you want to see which was the best OCer.

I think your avatar should be a food stamp.

why jump to the conclusion that he is going to return it to a store?

you can sell these at price with ease.

I'm glad I'm not your "friend" and might be buying a video card you "suspect is not working fully".

Caucasians don't collect food stamps? I must have been unaware of the new rule....

Anyway, I don't have any problem with buying two and selling one because of lesser OCing abilities, as long as the buyer is aware it's been OCd.

After reading many benchmarks of the Gainward CoolFX 6800 Ultra that clocks at 450/1200 I think a person would have to be nuts to void their warranty on a $500 card for those 1-2fps at some settings, but it's his money and I don't care as long as he never RMAs it without disclosure it's been OCd.

No matter how you look at it, he's just voided the warranty on $1000. worth of video cards, for gains you could never notice in use.

I'm not sure I understand the need to overclock a 6800 Ultra, unless you are somehow playing Unreal 3 and we aren't.....

Well, that's neat and all, but a 7% OC just doesn't seem worth all the trouble. You'd be better off buying both and SLIing them at stock speeds. ;)

But selling it to a friend doesn't exactly sound like fraud to me. Better than returning it, as long as you're up front with your friend. I suspect that if it does fail at some point, though, he'll RMA without remorse which would make baby Jesus cry (as much as my casting preemptive stones, natch).

Whats a good speed to expect from a liquid cooled 6800 ultra?

Racist? Whats a racist? Are Chris Rock and Bernie Mack racists?

Are the newest, fastest video cards more expensive to offset any profit loss by un-warranted returns?

Rollo REALLY needs to stop jumping to conclusions before he gets another vacation.
