I just got this card and i didn't realize that the card needed a seperate power source for the fan. Is this a strain on a 350 watt power supply?

As long as your not running 5 hard drives, it should be fine.

Actually, let's expand the original reply a smidgen. If the 350 watt PSU is a known quality brand, then it should be sufficient. If it is a Chiefmax, Coolmax, Powmax, etc (in other words, a huge plethora of semi-generic PSUs that are terrifically over-rated on the labels attached to them), no, you are taking a major gamble with it.

Second, the fan motor itself draws very little current. The jack on the card is for 12 V power to the card itself, for the GPU and the RAM.

Actually, I have four hard drives and the power supply is by Antec. I've noticed that one of the hard drives is now running at 118 degrees. It was always around 100 degrees. What do you think is going on?

I just looked up Antec 350 watt psu's and most of them have duel rails at 10 or 15 amps on the 12v+ rail. What model do you have? I don't think the temp of your hard drives has any thing to do with the PSU. What case do you have?

I have an Antec SLK3700BQE . I think I will install a fan in the front of the case. If you take a look at the specs, my case comes with 1 120mm fan for the rear of the case and I have the option to install another 120mm fan in the front. I think I will do that.

I was looking at this fan. I may even buy two: one for the front and to replace the rear one. With those two fans, I should be able to push air through that case better.
