My understanding is these have very similar performance to a good 5700XT and a bit more, but with the bonus of 12GB memory. So overall seems a decent deal.

hmm, I think they are considerably faster, in the 20-30% range. And at lower power usage levels. The 6700xt is faster than the 3060ti and the 5700xt is more like a 2070S in its best light. The 6600xt almost reaches 5700xt performance in some cases and is above the 5700.

The gap at 1080p is even wider. It’s about the same as a 3070 in performance, win some lose some.

A 6700xt for 3060 money should be an easy choice.

Looks like same card at NE is $630.

This one looks better built than that one that was $600 too. Just a classier/maybe beefier looking heatsink. My sons MSI 6700xt heatsink dwarfs my 6800, so I am sure either would be sufficient. Really, I think you hope for better contact and better fans when you spend a little more, right?

I just had my Dad buy this one to replace his out of warranty 5700 - chip shortage and and global supply chains and all that.

Plenty of folks on Slickdeals confused why these were deals at so "much more than MSRP" and advising waiting as prices are "coming down" - maybe, but the world stage isn't super stable and if you can save $200-$300 vs last week and they are stones throw from MSRP (would have loved to have bought either my earlier 6700XT or 6800 at $75-$100 over "MSRP"!) I think the time is now. Whenever you find an add to cart button that actually works, that is.

OR BE STUCK WITH A 6500XT! HAHAHAHA!

(just joking if you've followed that thread)

Are the 6700XT cards nay better than a standard 1080GTX? Or, as I think, pretty much the same?

Pretty solid step up.

At best, a 1080 is like a 2060, based on those graphs. Usually behind it by a reasonable amount. The 3060 is about a 2060S in those graphs.

Looking back at the graph I posted previously, I would estimate the 6700XT 30-50% faster depending on the title and depending on the resolution and 8GB memory wall.

The 6700XT is an actual step up, imo, where as the 6600 is treading water against it.

The 6700XT is also the minimum AMD card for Ray Tracing, IMO, and is about as powerful as the GPU as the PS5 so will likely be a performance target for years to come.

Ah, thanks for that info. I game at 4k when I can and the 1080 is just not capable. Haven't really gamed on my PC since I got a PS5 and Elden Ring. May jump on one of these if I get a refund this year.
