FIRST OF ALL:
I'm in no way advertising for Stasis Thermal. I'm just spreading the word as a SATISFIED CONSUMER of this particular product.

I know a lot of you bought the 6600gt's and there's really no cooling option for it, except for maybe the Zalman 700Cu.

However, the Zalman 700Cu does not provide active cooling for the ram, and you have to mod the ramsinks (like use a dremel to grind the ramsinks so they can fit due to the large gpusink).
Stasis thermal's HSF covers all of the ram, and actively cools it with the main fan.

Anyways, I was browsing through ocforums and stumbled upon this thread:
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=360362&page=1&pp=30.

My posts are on page 3. I went ahead and bought his heatsink, installed it, and I'm VERY impressed with the temps it gives me, and now I have a ton of overclocking freedom for my card.

Temps
As for temps (not overclocked):
Stock:
48C, 63C load

Stasis cooler:
36C, 49C load

Overclocked:
Stock:
forget it..it didn't happen, couldn't happen, card artifacted on any change
Statis cooler:
41C, 52C load (was now able to push it to 573 core, 1.15 mem STABLE. I'm definitely going to try to go a bit higher)

Construction
The construction is top notch, except the clear plastic/acrylic housing. It's a bit loose, but that's because of the rubber feet that cushion it against the heatsink.

Installation was a bit tedius. It may be easier if you use some clamps XD lol jk.
But ya, I've had much more easier installations in other cards. It's not hard, it's just that I'm sure some of you cringe when you smear your freshly applied arcticsilver onto your heatsink, and it's easy to do that here. I guess w/ some practice w/o paste applied, u can master it.

But really, that's not important. I got it installed in half an hour.

I guess I'll have pics up soon as soon as I can borrow someone's digicam (mine's broken :()
http://www.stasisthermal.com <---- is the website.

price is priced very high @ $54 USD :(. It seems like they raised it as I bought it at $49 USD.

But I'm guessing the reason for the high price is that this thing is made in USA, and not in China or Korea or anywhere else where manufacturing costs over there are SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. I know a lot of you won't buy it due to the cost, but again, I know there's people out there who'll pay premium for a good quality HSF (hehe they emphasize made in USA).

Although I would like it if they would lower the price to maybe even $45.

Do a whois on statisthermal.com, and you can see I do not own it. I'm just one happy customer of their product, so please, save the flames of me advertising.

I'd spend that $50 on something more worthwhile..... Sorry, the price/value ratio is way off the chart...

ya true. :(

i know someone who was trying to create a HSF and it costs about ~$10k for R&D, another $10k-ish for initial manufacturing. This is the USA. :( No such thing as cheap labor in US. :(

He eventually couldn't break even since there was no way in hell he could compete against the import HSF's from Asia.

Anyways, it's a shame that such a high quality products' downfall is its price because of the location it was made in. :(

Thanks for the feedback Dan! Good luck with getting some great overclocks. :)
Fortunately there are enough enthusiasts willing to go the extra mile. Do it once and do it right is the way to go.

For someone who is in the market for a videocard, this is definitely not the most practical option. However, for those of us who already own 6600GT's and would like to get the most out of them, the investment is by no means out of the question. Afterall, with strong overclocks, a 6600GT is faster than a 6800nu.
