XFX 6600GT AGP vs. BFG 6600GT AGP vs. BFG 6800OC

I recommend getting a evga 6800 rather than a BFG 6800 because the BFG 6800 heatsink is not sufficient. Sure it has LED's and two fans but i went to FRY's earlier today and asked the clerk about that video card. He told me that he had bought two and ended up returning them because they didn't make much of a performance jump. Also he told me the heatsink gets hot quick.

oh yah, EVGA makes good solid products. Plus, in the future when the next gen cards come out, EVGA has a "Step up Program" that allows you to return your old EVGA card and get another for a discounted price.

Id go with the BFG I have a GT and it works great plus they have a great warrenty. impemonk said they have heat issues but I have had no problems with mine and AFAIK they use the same heatsink on the NU as they use on the GT so it should cool just fine.

My thoughts exactly. We tried to convince him the Raptors were not worth it but he still thinls they will give him better performance than an A64

I don't know, they're just trying to help. Your choices are a little silly.

The 6600GT for AGP is not a good buy. I'd get the 6800, but look at other brands depending on how much weight you give to impemonk's statements. I picked up the PNY 6800 AGP a week ago, unlocked and overclocked it, and it's a great card for $200!

What??? You actually listened to a Fry's clerk and decided on his advice? Lol j/k.

I'd go with BFG because of their Lifetime warranty.

live2game: People are here to help you. Sometimes you will get responses that will deviate from the topic but that should be expected. Also, don't be offended with constructive criticisms. Some posters will point out if your choices are sound or not.

In your case, buying 2 raptors over a much better CPU first does not seem like a good idea and people are pointing that out to you. You may agree or disagree with them but don't go whining to the mods asking them to lock a thread beacause you don't like the responses you are getting.

lol

I personally suspect it's Rocket Raccoon again (or whatever the f*ck he/she/it called itself). If so, it's kind of a funny one-- we all took the bait.

Actually his/her name was Phantomracoon and he/she started annoying some people in another game forum, lol.

I have just decide diffferent then most people. I know they want to help me but I have decided something different. I wanted to know your opionions on my video card chioces not my other compent choices.

I've got a BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC.
I've overclocked it to the 6800 Ultra OC clockspeed levels.
Stock heatsink, nothing moddded physically in my system besides adding a PCI slot fan 2 slots below the GPU to help with airflow.
It's rock solid. The performance boost is nice. DOOM 3 runs a tad bit faster (compared to 370 MHz core stock), and CS Source runs quite a bit faster as well. It's a great overclocker. Haven't had any heat-related problems so far.

There's my two cents. Hope that helped.

BFG hands down...had my 6800GT for a while with not one problem. Card has never seen 70c under load (normally sees 67-68) runs great and the warranty is worth it.

I liked BFG before as well, but not anymore since my friend gets 2 bad replacements of 5950Ultra from them. Yes my friend can keep on replacing it but the hassle is hardly worth it. And before that he used eVGA whose tech support cannot help at all when he has issues. The problem with XFX is that it's hard to find in the stores and I would like to see it before buying.

I currently have a BFG 6800oc fully unlocked @ 380 Core 780 RAM, and a BFG 6800GT @ 400 Core 1.14 RAM. I'm very happy with BFG. 😉
