I have a 9500Pro also. Would the 6600GT be a noticable improvement over my 9500Pro?

Most are getting better performance with the 6600GT over 9800Pro. You decide :p

There are people on FW that are saying that they have either gotten a $25 compensation from newegg or information stating that the rebate is valid from a Newegg CSR. I don't know if they will post up the rebate again on Newegg, but as you can see from above someone has the link to the .pdf rebate, thanks HardcoreRobot.

As for me, ETA April 18th.

I read this thread then turned away from the computer and resumed work. I happened to glance back at the keyboard, and to my horror, found that my right hand had finalized the order.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse...my wife(who works in the office 5 feet from mine) walked in to see the confirmation page.

Thanks Anandtech...Now I'll go join my 9500pro("re-invented" into a9700 pro) in the doghouse.

this one is nicer in that it has dual dvi, is cheaper, and also apparently overclocks fairly well. I'd probably prefer this one over the PNY (just ordered one of these for myself, in fact).

edit: additionally, the XFX memory is clocked at 500 Mhz, or 1000 Mhz effectively. Most of the other 6600 GT AGP cards' memory is clocked at 450, or 900 effectively.

This card is now a Newegg Crackin' Deal:

Price got lowered to $188 with Free shipping, minus the $30 MIR...

Makes it $158 shipped AR. Not bad at all.

how does this card compare with this? I've been wanting a 9800 pro forever, and the specs look similar (better?) than the newegg. granted it's more expensive, but I want to know what is physically better about the 6600GT?

Tom's Hardware: VGA Charts

6800GT > 6800 > 6600GT > 9800PRO

Also, for those who purchased this because of the rebate, you'll have to call Newegg and discuss the possibility of a refund/discount. The reason the rebate was pulled was because it was for a different model #.

here's another question: does the 6600 draw considerably more power than the 9800 pro? I don't care about 10-20 extra fps (as long as it works better than my pos 5200) but I do care about the jump in my electricity bill!

does anyone know if the rebate is still valid even with the wrong model number listed?

Also, why does newegg sell two of these cards that are exactly the same from what I can tell. The only diff. is that one model # ends in PVT43AND and the other ends in PVT43ANDF3.

I'm concerned about the wrong model # listed on the rebate form.

heres my email:

I bought a VGA XFX|GF 6600 GT 128MB PVT43AND item number N82E16814150080 on Tuesday, April 12 and it just came to my attention that the rebate posted on the 12th and 13th on the Newegg website said it was valid for a PVT43ANDF7. I was wondering if XFX or Neweg will still honor this rebate, even though I could not find a PVT43ANDF7 on either website. I bought this video card because of its rebate, so I was also wondering in the event that this rebate will not be honored, what are the possibilities of a refund or discount? Thank you for your time.

heres their reply:

Thank you for contacting us. According to the rebate, the manufacturer will honor all XFX and PVT43ANDF7 models. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please let us know.

PVT43AND and PVT43ANDF7 differ in the final pack in and box configuration. Contact XFX for information about what the final pack in is.

By "pack in" I mean what is included in the box. I believe the new rectangular box version of this card has 1 DVI - VGA adaptor only.

I purchased my XFX 6600GT AGP in late December 2004. I purchased the "X" shaped box version, it included... Manual, quick install guide, driver/demo disc, 2 DVI - VGA adaptors, Svideo cable, and 3 games. X2:The Threat, Commandos 3 and Nascar (something or another).

I had some issues with the driver version included in the box, but the XFX website stated downloading at least the 67.03's from would Nvidia fix it and it did.
