I like XFX. Reliable manufacturer, good warranty. The one you linked is the classic, though.

Is this a thread asking whether you should buy the XFX 650W? If so, vital info is missing: what setup will it be powering.

Well I am not sure how I am going to use it.
But more then Likely I am going to use with following way.
2 7970 or
1 7970 1 6970
1055T (90 % one core enable with Under voltage 1.2)
1 SSD
1 Optical Drive
Standard USB Key,Mouse
with Built in Ethernet card.
There will be NO O.C. but Duty cycle is 100% 24/7

In a past I had very Good Luck with Corsair, OCZ

For such a setup I'd recommend a 750W unit instead. Two 7970's consume over 400W at stock (close to 500W when overclocked). This is in gaming, I don't know if you use them for some sort of computing instead.

If you're in the US, there's a good deal on a highly efficient Rosewill Capstone 750M ($86 after promo)

I am in Canada.......
From Nicx I am getting $73 + Tax $10 = $82 -$10 Rebate $72
I just can't ignore Price point and Features.
There will be NO Over Voltage Clocking. May be GPU Clock rate by 100Mhz
Cpu will unervoltage 1.2V V core and run on Single Core.
Most of the Time Optical Drive will be Idle...... and HDD at this point.
Maybe I need to get a Kill a Watt and find out how much I am really pulling ?

This XFX is Nice too 70A on 12 Volt rail!
This EVGA looks Nice 60 Amps on 12 Rail
But with 2 7970 Pulling 400 watts off 12 rail it comes to 33 amps Right!

What are you going to be doing with the GPUs then? You said the PC is on 24/7 - how much of that time are the GPUs at load?

Buying from Canada the best deals are XFX 650W $63 AR and XFX 750W $78 AR. THe XFX 850W is just overkill, no point getting that one.

The EVGA unit isn't very good.

I'm not following. What are you asking?

You wouldn't be putting 100% load on the XFX 650W but the 750W unit is a safer bet because you're running it 24/7.

According to my calculation 650 XFX should able handle the load without any problem; may be have some more room to left over.
In other words what is normal duty load cycle ?

It is essential for any unit that there is room left over. You should never be stressing a unit regularly to its rated wattage, or even close - for best longevity and reliability I recommend up to 80% load at most for normal systems. Your system consumes about 500W with the GPUs at load, that's already a 77% load. But yours isn't a normal system since it's at load all the time. Therefore it's even more important to have that safety margin. The 750W unit should be stressed to less than 70% load. Efficiency will also be slightly better the closer you are to 50% load.

You will love that new KM3 XFX Black Pro Edition. It's Platinum rated under 750W and will do 944 Watts Gold. The Modular Design and Cables are about the best on the Market. However you may have to get that second 8 Pin for the 2nd Video Card. I know the 850W has provisions for SLI and CrossFire but not sure about the 750W.

If your handy with a Soldering Iron and Heat Shrink it would not take much to modify a Cable.

At $119 Canadian from NCIX - Seasonic and Corsair - Eat your Heart Out - It does go on sale for about $100 sometimes ;o)

It's rated 80+ Gold, not platinum... And it will not do 944 watts continuously, it is rated for 750W continuous.

I know the 850W has provisions for SLI and CrossFire but not sure about the 750W.
Even the 650W unit does

But it is a rather nice deal even at $115, and given the OP's usage scenario the higher efficiency could pay for the higher cost in few years.

It has two 6 pin PCIe and two 6+2 pin PCIe I think that will do the Trick!

I should have been more explicit in my post recommending the XFX 750 W Pro Black Edition Full Modular PSU. I take for granted Forum Members will read reviews on hardware I recommend.

You will note Hardware Secrets review on the unit say that XFX advertize this KM3 PSU as 80 + Gold where in fact, QUOTE
The XFX PRO 750 W Black Edition Full Modular presented outstanding efficiency, way above the minimum set by the 80 Plus Gold certification. The 80 Plus Gold certification promises efficiency of at least 87% under light (ei.e., 20%) load, 90% under typical (i.e., 50%) load, and 87% full (i.e., 100%) load. In fact, the results achieved by this power supply would qualify it as an 80 Plus Platinum certification!
and the OVERLOAD TEST proved 951.4 Watts at 84.3% efficiency.

I do not believe there are other 750 W PSU's that can match these specs in this price range and if they do will cost $25 to over $50 and more.

Man it passes Platinum Specs at 841 watts.

I bought the 850W unit on sale for $120 from NCIX CDA and testify that the Modular Design and Ribbon Cables are without a doubt "FANTASTIC" plus the Optional Fan Control where the Fan does not engage unless 30% is used makes for a Silent PSU.

To me you are wasting your money upon purchasing either a Seasonic or a Corsair Identical Unit.

The new 750, 850 and 1000 W XFX PRO Black Edition Full Modular units are based on the KM3 Design which Seasonic and Corsair also adhere to.

I'm going an a limb: I don't necessarily believe NCIX CA is the best deal for Canadians where Canada Direct will ship Free and so does NewEgg + not charging HST - Forget AMAZON it's an American Ripp-Off for us. Canadians are forced to pay $10 to $20 more for a specific Item when our Dollar is equivalent or worth more then the USD. HINT it's approx 50% cheaper to ORDER form CHINA (Free Shipping and No PST) but it takes a couple of weeks longer for shipping Electronic Items - That's Free Trade.
