For those who haven't seen it yet...
"Xfire is a free gaming tool that automatically keeps track of when and where gamers are playing PC games online and lets their friends join them easily. It doesn't matter which online game your friends are playing, which server browser they are using, or which gaming service they're playing on; Xfire is intelligent enough to recognize where your friends are at any time. "

It shows you what games your friends are playing, and if supported (mostly FPS) auto-joining the server they are on. This is great for any FPS players out there. Also, supported games allow you to chat on Xfire while still in game, no alt-tabbing needed. You get a little pop-up in the bottom right corner of the screen if you get a message, you hit scroll lock + x and it pops up a chat window on top of your game. Another little feature that I like is tracking your hours played in each game and giving you a weekly/all-time view of games you are playing/played. And it's FREE!

I'm all set thanks. I dont play enough online PC games.
It'd be cooler to see your overall statistics instead of just time played... but I guess that's asking too much.

I have heard of it and seen it before, but never tried it out. I think I will try it though I don't know anyone who uses it.

I use it for CS because the friends network is always down and I can never see what games my friends are in.

Er, I've had no problem using it with CS:S. Btw, if anyone needs some friends, my xfire name is svennethir if you couldn't figure it out. I'm at school now so I'll add you when I get home.

Strange.

I can always see when someone in my list joins a game, but I don't get the server address (there's also no right-click -> join game).

Hmm..

I've never felt the need to use anything other than ASE with the buddy list.

Eh, Xfire is free and it's not really made specifically as a game browser, that's more of an added bonus. It's a messaging client, with the ability to message people in game/receive messages while still in game. It's also got a basic server browser, the ability to see what games your friends are playing/what server, and to autojoin them. I also enjoy tracking how many hours my friends and I have played a game. I've never used ASE so I can't say much about it, but I've been in love with Xfire since I got it several months ago, heh.
