lol yeah, well I don't think I'll be making that market any bigger ... dual opterons is good enough for me I think, well it's probably more than good enough.

I can't wait to play a game on this machine... and take it to a lan.

Keep in mind as somebody else already mentioned you can get a faster machine for gaming using a single CPU. And a dual system will just be that much more weight to lug around. Though it doesn't need to be much more. But in general you tend to have a larger case and PS. But while dual may not be the fastest it will be able to handle multiple tasks with little to no slow down.

Heh, you still haven't answered yet why some person is giving a group of people 18k computers...

We're getting 18k computeres because he's a very generous guy ;) ... There's no real reason other than that, and well, I'm not complaining :D ...

I will play a hell of a lot of games though, do you think it'd be better to build a single cpu system? I had contemplated it, like I whent to Alienware to see what they had for specs on their systems and they didn't have duals for gaming ... But I don't just play games, I usually have mithEdit (my web dev ide) open as well as photoshop and a few browsers (ie,fb,op) and occasionally I have 3dsmax open while the others are open. And outlook is always open even when playing games ...

Would I sacrifice much by getting a single processor? I would save a load of cash (which I actually get into my account now) so I can upgrade easily at the end of the year to something even better which I'm sure will be a good idea.

Its not going to be a night and day sort of difference between the speed of a top end dual system and a top end single CPU system. Just abit. If you plan on running a bunch of stuff at the same time (especially stuff like Max) then I would go dual.

I'm only getting a tb of storage btw because I can ... there is enough cash and then some so I figured why not? I like to make cd images so I don't have to keep popping cds in and out of the computer so I'll be able to put every cd I have onto my computer and that's a damn lot, so I'll have lotsa more space leftover .. Some of the images will be my dvds maybe, I don't know though becuse I've never had a dvd-rom drive (other than xbox and dvd player on tv) so I don't know of any apps to make images of dvds.
