So I'm probably about to drop a couple grand on a new MacPro to replace my aging PowerMac G4 and possibly replace my PC (btw, does anybody want the computer in my sig? :p). But, as I'm looking at Penryn details, all I can find is desktop details. What about the Penryn-era Xeon? Will it be Socket-771? Will it be compatible with the 5000x series chipsets? Will it be 1333FSB or higher? What are my upgrade possibilities?

Thanks.

mmm... im currently on a xeon 3220. its the Q6600 version of the xeon.

2 words:

VERY HOT.

and not i dont mean in apearance. i mean in actuality. They RUN friggin hot.

As for penryn.. i have no clue, besides its goign to be 775 and 1333fsb. I think you'd be more interested in nelph.
